I feel for the NDSU crowd but am excited for my Pokes

First, to the NDSU folks, we have been exactly where you are right now - losing good coaches is never a fun experience. I wish you all the very best in the playoffs and in the future. I have been a huge fan of the Bison, and now will be an even bigger fan.

Now, onto my Pokes - when DC was hired, I upped my CJC donation and bought season tickets for my 1 year old son (when I didn't have to). Two years later, I bought another when my second boy was born, even though I didn't have to. After watching Bohl's PC, I guess it is time to double down on CJC again. He is going to give us his all, and we need to match it. We need to show up at the War, and bring extra folks with us. We need to show up on the road for him. We need to support him and his family.

Coach Bohl, welcome to Wyoming. Go get your third NC - you and your NDSU players deserve it. Go Bison and Go Pokes!

A perfect synopsis.
I'm bumping my donation as well.
I wanted this guy when I saw the article in the NYT back in mid November. Class act, all the way.
Flying from Detroit Metro to Austin, attending the Shoe under Dimels tenure, flying to Houston when we were undefeated or coming out to Laramie for many years I've never felt the misery that came after this year for CSU. I was on the sideline looking at Jack Graham and Bucky the beaver....and I nearly puked.

Christensen was a poser. We were a soft team, that had no edge.
No matter how hard we wanted a quality win, Big Dave hasn't a clue.

Bohl on the other hand laid it out. Recruit locally, make Wyoming your backbone. Instill Wyo football lore among it's base.
Find hard nosed ambitious kids that you can build on. We are Cowboys, that is who we are. We win with toughness, not excuses. I think this guy fits the bill. x's and o's don't determine your eligibility to earn respect, grit and toughness do.

I'm ready for a new era. In the meantime, I'm pulling for the Bison.

The coaching carousel really sucks for the alumni and fans of the losing school. I know, I can't forget the misery I felt when Fred Akers bolted for Texas. I really feel their pain. CB (see, I'm using the initials already) told a Fargo reporter, and I believe he said it in his presser, that he felt it was time for a change. He believed he'd done all he could do for NDSU.

At least UW is letting Craig finish out his playoff run with the Bison. Hopefully his kids will play for him and bring NDSU another National Championship.

Couldn't agree more, LawPoke. Go Bison, best of luck to you guys up there, and lets hope Bohl is as great as he seems

We'll miss Coach Bohl in Fargo but I am excited to see what he can do for you folks. I can tell you he will build from the lines out and if he gets the personnel he wants nobody is going to enjoy playing the Cowboys.

Coach Bohl has ran a tampa 2 style defense and as I am sure you have all figured out a West Coast Style offense featuring a power running game. The basic power running philosophy has always been the same but the offense has evolved depending on personnel, so I can't say whether he has a preference as far as a pocket passer or mobile quarterback. They generally are conservative and play the field position game. Coach Bohl also puts a big priority into special teams and as far as I can remember this has always been a strength under his teams.

Go Bison and good luck to the Pokes.

Thank you! Good luck to the Bison as well, hope you guys pull off the 3 peat.

Awesome! This is EXACTLY how a team should be built. Skill players are important, but (as we saw this year) you can have the best skill players in the world and lose because they don't have the time to do anything. Games are won and lost in the trenches.

We have to be patient. I would say that Bohl needs a good two years to start getting the players we need in place - which makes no mention of the cultural shift that has to occur. Culturally, he will have an immediate impact, but the results will be mixed next year in terms of wins and losses. Personally, I won't really judge him on wins and losses over the next two years, but instead, in terms of how we play. If we start to get tougher, meaner, nastier...which will be VERY EASY to spot given where we are today...I will have confidence that the wins will come shortly thereafter.

Plus, we have a horrific schedule next year, especially early, with Meatchicken State and Oregon.

Hi All.
NDSU Fan here. You all got a great coach in CB. Hardnosed disciplined football is his style. Just a little bit of history to tell you what he's like. We got Bob Babich as a HC in the 90's. Since we play in a dome, he was of the mindset to hire the quick fast out of state kids. That didn't work. Then Bohl came in. He brought Nebraska, midwestern tough farm kids as a base. Then built around them. NDSU is a grind it down your throat style of team. Run the ball, short passes. Their TOP is almost 10 min longer than the opponent per game this year. Perfect example of it was the 9 plus minute 18 play drive against Kansas State this year to go ahead and win.
Another thing Bohl does well is recruit the bigger markets. He does a great job of getting kids from MN and WI to come to Fargo to play. I see him doing this a lot with CO kids.
One other thing about his style. A few years ago a few of the players were arrested. A couple were in a shoplifting ring stealing stuff from Best Buy another got a DUI. Bohl immediately suspended them. (And they were eventually kicked off for good.) A reporter asked him about due process. Bohl said something to the effect of they will get their day in court. Due process is for courts. The thing they have to realize is that playing on this team is a privilege not a right.

You all got a good coach. NDSU's loss is your gain.
Good Luck! Go Pokes!

Any guesses on how long it'll take Bohl to get things rolling in Wyoming?

First of all congrats on landing a very fine coach.

Above his knowledge of the game, coaching student athletes, the ability to set up a system, Bohl will operate the program with a CEO mentality. No stone will be unturned, and he will demand your best. You will be in great shape if you get all the assistant coaches, and should be able to plug in and get running from day one.

Bohl will set the tone from Day ONE. Spring ball will begin the weed out process. Your team will play with discipline, as those that don't, won't play. no matter who they are. Iike some others have said, you will see progress on the field as next year progresses. Can't say what the win loss record will be, but you will see progress. less penalties, turnovers, better tackling, swarming defense, etc. You will see it all coming together, year two, after the players have gotten comfortable with the system. year three should have a better record at a minimum.

As a former Bison player and fan, I wish coach Bohl and the Staff that follows him success....why wouldn't one.

I just hope "Coach" had them lobby his contract for allowing Non-Residents the ability to hunt Wilderness Areas without a guide.

Good Luck Cowboys! You just gained another fan!
