Not sure. I can ask his mom next time I see her, probably mid January.

I watched him last night. He was incredibly fluid and smooth.

I remember my own classmates talking about his mother as a good athlete when she was in high school too.

Mission #1 every year has to be to keep the instate talent in state. If there are kids good enough to go play at other D1 schools, they should be in Laramie. There are no excuses for them not to be.

I always think about Garret Patik's (Buffalo HS) absolute refusal to play for Joby Wrong and four years of excellent production for the Sheep when i contemplate losing in-state kids to comparable schools and programs.

My understanding was always that we lost Patik specifically because of the coach and not in spite of him.

That sounds about right. I loved Joby but he messed that up. As good as he was at csu he was never pre injury Patik. That guy as a high school so/Jr was unbelievable. I think Joby considered him a lost cause and then when he blew his knee out as a senior he lost the interest from the big schools and became a MWC level recruit again but it was too late

I know this is a pretty late response in this thread, but that's not as easy as you'd think. I'd guess that most 16-18 year-olds, except those that grow up in the shadow of elite programs, are fairly eager to get a change of scenery and put some distance between themselves, their parents, and their teenage years.

Even upper-tier MW schools like UNLV and SDSU struggle to get the best players from their own local talent pools.

All that being said, it's hard for me to NOT like anyone named Hunter Thompson!!! Anyone who remembers my first avatar will get it...
