I am not sure how you see that. Hughes is way inferior. He has no speed, can't make the right read, and is horribly inaccurate. Would take Chambers over Hughes without a second thought about it.
I will agree on Sims. That guy deserves an honest shot at leading this offense. I was calling for it against UNC. Sawful is too subborn to change especially since they committed $800k to Hughes.
As if I was already sufficiently skeptical of the OC, his comments in the 7220 article from Cody make me think he is not only incompetent, but possibly blind too.

college football, and laramie wyoming, where you can be terrible at your job and still get paid almost a million dollars. kind of a slap in the face for those of us that work hard. I make 1/8th of that and if I performed like he does at my job I would be booted

Sawful has such a keen eye for quality and value he would pay $30,000 for a junkyard salvaged Yugo freshly spray painted from a Rustoleum can if the seller put a sticker on it saying “Well cared for. Looks nice!” without taking it for a test drive.

It’s sickening. Why I won’t contribute to NIL. A college student has no business making that kind of money.
Could have given 32 players $25K each (which I would support to subsidize living and lost work opportunity costs) but instead felt it was better to throw $800K for a single player.
What else could he say? He is stuck with Hughes and really cannot say anything but "he is the guy" and looks great everyday in practice. Before everyone starts saying Taylor is the reason Hughes is here, Sawvel said that Taylor's relationship with Hughes was 3 years ago before Taylor went to work for the Bills. . My guess is that Taylor may have suggested Hughes but Sawvel made the choice.

If Taylor is in charge of correcting offensive deficiencies and has greater priority in the selection of recruits than his predecessors, he has certainly biffed on an obvious quick upgrade to the anemic offense with the 14.67 scoring average as compared to the 2025 16 scoring average and 2024 19.3 scoring average.
Get that - almost 5 points per game less in 2026 than the 3 win 2024 clusterF$&@ and Wyoming has had 3 of the easier games on the schedule.
For Taylor to also be heralded as an NFL expert exposed to the unapologetic judgement of individual players abilities at the professional level, he surely biffed if he was the one saying Hughes was the coup de grace if Taylor is the only reason for his presence. Ultimately it is Sawful who determined that Taylor was the best option to fix the pathetic offense. Was it the Bills association to sell another weak hire on Poke fans? So far Taylor hasn’t brought anything impressive to the table.
Sawful has run a program for 3 years now that continues to suffer from gaping deficiencies in numerous areas - especially with the offense.
If the problems are the players - Sawful is the ultimate approval for signing those players. If the players have attitudes of indifference to the effort needed to perform at this level or are just plain too damn dumb to comprehend instruction, then Sawful is the authority figure who approves the recommendations of the staff that Sawful himself has selected. If his staff is a source of incompetence then Sawful himself is responsible for their continued employment.
When you look at numerous G level FBS teams who appear to recruit better and coach better with budgets Wyoming is competitive with it says Sawful is awful and the results are a direct reflection of his leadership abilities all the way down to the final roster position.
When you look at FCS programs with numerous talented players that could play effectively at the G6 level of the FBS and are also well coached into cohesive teams that can execute a game plan effectively on a substantially lower budget it says Sawful is awful and the results are a direct reflection of his leadership abilities and he has surrounded himself with assistants who are a reflection of his own incompetence.
UNC Greeley is looked upon as being a really bad FCS program. They certainly looked better coached than the Cowboys. In that barn burner comeback against the D2 #13 team what was a move the coach made? The starting QB was benched and the 2nd string QB led the team with very effective passing and ball management.

This is unfortunately what college football has become. There are quarterbacks making well over one million dollars who will end up with terrible records/stats this season. There will be lots of swings and misses, but we have to try. Like it or not, we have to pay to play if we want to be competitive. If you were a talented athlete, you would probably go to the highest bidder. No putting this tooth paste back in the tube. It sucks
