I hate to bust any bubbles. But I'd be surprised If there are more than 4k there. Breaks my heart I can't be there, but I don't know why people think that there will be a big crowd there. We weren't getting big crowds when classes were in session and we were receiving votes. What gives you hope there will be a big crowd over Xmas break on nye??? I hope I am wrong. Go pokes. Yeah and unfortunately the game against San Diego State that we will absolutely need a home crowd is still 2+ weeks before classes start again, and on a Wednesday at 9pm. Great scheduling huh?

I completely agree with both of you. There are so many distractions now. And athletics isn't important to young people as it was in the 80s. Larger populated communities haven't felt the effect of this as much because there just more people. hiwever they still feel it. I live in Iowa and the Hawkeyes have had to do some gimmick stuff to get butts in the seats for football. Not as much for bball because they just need less of them to fill the arena. But sports just aren't important to 18-22 year olds. They'd all rather smoke weed and play video games. Ok that was a huge generalization. I have a question for beav. Is half acre still packed with students in the afternoons playing pick up bball? I remember the epic pickup games there. It was tough to get in a game. Wondering if students still go there to play? I would be willing to bet that the numbers are much smaller now?

Well im not still at UW but when I was before I moved to Corvallis, Half Acre was still under construction and only 2 b-ball courts were available. I honestly can't say whether or not the courts were packed or not. I know when I was a freshman/sophomore they were. Tons of people playing and waiting to play. Lately I don't think it's been as packed. But that could be because Half Acre renovations making it 1/3 the size it normally is. Current students might know better though.

Maybe someone in the theatre department felt the same way about you staying home and not going to a play UW students put on.

Laramie packed the AA when there were quite a bit fewer people than there are now. We are in the midst of Gen-Zero for our students...

Laramie packed the AA when there were quite a bit fewer people than there are now. We are in the midst of Gen-Zero for our students...

Ya they packed the AA when there was nothing else to do that is basically what I've been saying. The crowds aren't coming back to the AA anytime soon winning or not there just isn't as much drive there. Now if we are winning MWC Championships 2-3 years straight we will probably see more than we do now but these 4-9k attendance situations aren't going anywhere.
