Howdy from a Sparta fan

Hey guys. Looking forward to the matchup tomorrow. As a 43 year old I remember Wyoming to be pretty formidable in my early years. I like the direction your program is headed now as well. I watched some of your game against Oregon and I liked what I saw. As we all know, hanging toe-to-toe with the Ducks is a daunting task at their place. You guys did pretty damn well all things considered. Mariota may be the best college QB I have seen in my lifetime. He sliced and diced us both. Water under the bridge now.

Both head coaches obviously respect each other and yours actually beat out Dantonio for a gig not long ago. There will be no blow-out tomorrow. I think this game will be closer than Vegas predicts. I think (hope) we jump out big ... but the game will settle down into a grind-out affair for most of the second half.

Good luck to you guys tomorrow and for the rest of the season. Gun to my head ... I'll go MSU 31 - Wyoming 10

Welcome to the board. Good luck tomorrow and the rest of your season, here's to an injury free well played ballgame.

Howdy philfee,

Cheers! Welcome to Wyonation. I cannot speak for others here, but I am really looking forward to the game tomorrow. I am really enjoying how our program is heading, the tough nosed approach that we got away from in the recent years is finding its way back to the high plains of Wyoming. I have always admired the Spartan program and really have enjoyed watching you guys grow and develop into a great program...and letting people know there is another team from Michigan! Here's to a great game and a strong season to you guys!

Hey there,
good to see non-troll fans from other teams paying us a visit. I too enjoy watching Spartan football, and I hope our program can somewhat mimic what you guys have. Obviously we'll never get quite the same level of recruits, but on the other hand, we have a unique home field advantage that can't be replicated - at least not without spending insane amounts of money.

Anyway, good luck tomorrow, and here's to no injuries on either team!

Go Pokes!

For those curious about this statement, as I was:

The year was 1984, and the gig was NDSU DBs coach.

Dantonio was a GA at Ohio State at the time, while Bohl was a GA at Nebraska

Hey man! Welcome to Wyonation! I hope for a good game, maybe even a major upset? But really, a good hard fought game with no injuries, I'll be happy. You're at where we hope to be in the coming years, maybe not recruiting wise (not sure many 4 and 5 star guys want to come here), but otherwise, yeah. A tough run it down your throat offense with a good QB and a hard nosed defense that chokes the life out of the offense (watched you guys out power Stanford last year, and that's not easy to do).

So here's to a good game!

You don't need 4 & 5 star guys to succeed. Look at us (MSU). Our studs are all 2-3 stars. Recruiting rankings are designed to drive hits to the " big boy boards". It's all economics. The key is the development and character of the kids you get when they get to campus. That this what drives the MSU program. If recruiting rankings ruled UM would be wiping the floor with MSU. Obviously that hasn't been the case.

I like your coach. Stick with him. He can do some great things.

We're already liking him, especially on the defensive side. Last year, our defense was the worst in school history in terms of points, yards, and penalties. This year, our front 7 at least, are doing SO much better it's not even funny. And the vast majority of them played last year (only had 2 guys from the defense graduate that had significant playing time).

Our offense still has some things to work out, but that's due to"
1. Going from a spread offense to a west coast offense.
2. Our starting QB declaring for the draft and his back up transferred to follow our old HC to Utah.
3. Our o-line is still a major work in progress, and has not been very good the last several years, though they are getting better at run blocking.

But we are giving him about 4 years before we really expect significant results on both sides.

Welcome to the board!
This topic is why I'm really impressed with Kellen Overstreet out of Missouri.
He's a low division HS player, but does great things when he gets the opportunity. That's why he leads the NATION in rushing! If he played in the upper classes in Missou, he'd be considered a five star. I think he is a big time get. And if he comes here ready to work and become a War Daddy, he's going to be a Beast in FBS play too.
Anyway, kudos to your 13-1 season last year. Here's to hoping after today you guys run the table to a12-2 season...

Welcome. Glad to see Michigan State the dominate program in the state. Michigan is always overrated and glad to see you guys keep them down.

Btw what forum do Mich State fans use? There doesn't seem to be a very active one.
