Not saying 'on the cheap', but if you look at who could be the competition for Bohl, WYO is right there.

Bohl is not going to:

USC
Florida
Texas
West Virginia

The Pokes should be able to compete financially with virtually every other school who may be going after Bohl.

Also consider the fit per Bohl's own needs...Bohl, if you look at his life and his coaching gigs, feels most comfortable at a place like...well, a place like Wyoming.

But on the other hand, it says here that Nebraska opts to go in another direction for their next HC.

If they do stay away from him, I could see it. Like someone (maybe you Doc?) said, we can offer less than what we're paying DC and still give him triple or more what he is making now

I wouldn't be so quick to write of West Virginia. Fact is, other than Nebraska, other schools who might be interested in Bohl are going to come with a $1M+ package. We've crossed that threshold, there's no going back.

I wouldn't be so quick to write of West Virginia. Fact is, other than Nebraska, other schools who might be interested in Bohl are going to come with a $1M+ package. We've crossed that threshold, there's no going back.

I think that West Virginia will target their former OC now doing some nice work down the road in Huntington, and that's 'Doc Holliday', the head coach at Marshall.

With the total nuclear meltdown of this football program over the last several weeks, with zero in the way of light at the end of the tunnel, I just cannot see any way that the administration at UW can sell the football ticket buying public on another season of Christensen.

This season has been a nightmare beyond the pale of what anyone could have forecast - and although I believe that DC did the best job possible and exhausted all avenues to try and reach a level of consistent success, the results have unfortunately failed to materialize.

Let me make one thing clear. This season is done and over with.

There is no 'salvaging the season.'

The state's highest paid employee has not been able to develop a sustained winning environment during the five (5) years he's been on the job.

His job is to win football games.

He didn't win nearly enough.

Let him finish out the last two games, then do the right thing and then relieve him of his duties on Monday December 2.

For my money, Craig Bohl is the logical successor -- if UW can convince him to come to Laramie.

Bohl's ability to recruit the upper midwest states has been more than impressive, and if he can show the same success in getting kids to come to Wyoming that he has shown in getting kids to go to Fargo -- then I like his chances of doing very well at UW,

What is it with you and FCS coaches? How will our success come from a coach who can recruit down home FCS talent? We've had this before. Glenn was supposed to bring great success from his amazing success and national titles at Montana.
Why not try something that we haven't, which other schools in the MWC have tried and succeeded with, and that's get an already successful coach at a smaller FBS school.
We would be able to afford them, they know how to succeed at this level. The know how to recruit at this level any they know how to win at this level. Examples: Brady Hoke (SDS) and Urban Meyer (Utah). Both program have reaped the benefits while they were at the school and after they've left.

This is directed to Doc, I already know some of your others opinions on this.

I also like Bohl, and just because Glenn didn't pan out here, we got the top coordinator from a BCS school, and we all know how that is working out, and promoting from within, I don't see anyone on staff that is kicking ass. And it's not reasonable to try to talk about a Mack Brown or anything like that who I think could be fired after this year. Maybe the Ball State guy, I don't know much about him

Mark me down as another believer in Bohl. He's been very successful in a place that's very similar to Laramie. Same recruiting downfalls (weather, isolation), same region, same type of fanbase. The difference is that he knows how to win. I say give him a shot.

I agree with Dino 100% on this one give Bohl the money and get him here now. I will not elaborate on my reasons, because Dino covered all of them to a T. I have been on the Bohl train for awhile now, since right after the SJSU game. If we can't get Bohl I would not be opposed to Barnett, he knows how to win football games and is from the area. He has also turned programs around like he did at CU as well as Northwestern. He would not be a bad alternative, but my number 1 choice is Bohl and I think we go after him very hard and offer as much as 1 million to get him out of Fargo.

If Christensen is fired this year I think there needs to be a lot of changes made -- more money for recruiting and assistant coaches, and lessen the admission standards for recruits are a start cause right now I think Laramie may be viewed by many in the coaching community as a coaching graveyard.
