His dad used to coach here. Parker was the ball boy/mop boy under the basket during games.

Maybe if Shyatt is retiring we should hire him as an assistant again. He was the one who brought Desmar Jackson here so seems like he can recruit. It would help us get Parker. Plus we have better coaching now.

Yeah he is. UT Martin had a decent year this year. They played in their conference championship game. I don't think Edwards is going to go after Anthony Stewart anyways.

Parker is being recruited by everyone now. He has offers from Florida, Memphis, Wisconsin, Missouri and more. He will be getting offers from a lot of bigger programs in the coming days as well. Doubt Wyoming ends up with him.

The mythical local recruit is exactly that. The majority of prospects are itching to get away from home. The only programs that largely succeed at landing locals are the major legacy programs like Indiana Basketball and Alabama Football.

Fact is, when I was eighteen and living in Laramie, I couldn't get away fast enough. After about 10 years I was all about trying to get back...

Wyoming's most successful teams have been built on the overlooked prospect, the diamonds-in-the-rough...
 
Georgetown, wow. Not saying we can't get this kid, and I hope we do. But at the rate he is getting offers, he would be one of the biggest recruiting coups in UW history.

I agree with you WestWYOPoke. WOW!!!! I can't remember us ever landing a recruit with the kind of offers that Parker is receiving. The scary thing is that he still has all spring and summer on the AAU circuit to play as well as his senior year!! :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Hopefully the staff is committed to being at all his games this spring and summer. Let's go get him guys!!
 
Georgetown has an excellent history no doubt....but they haven't been a dominant program in years. He has much better offers.....and he did spend a lot of his youth in Laramie.

He would be a great pickup.
 
If Parker really wants to be god-like on the basketball floor he should choose UW! ha ha. His recruitment really has blown up.
 
If Parker keeps improving, chances are good he's going to be a one and done anyway. The team that signs him will be lucky to keep him for more than one year.
 
The highest rated recruit Wyoming has ever gone after and got was Quinn Higgins. Parker Stewart isn't quite as his level yet but he is good. He may end up there by the time he decides.

As far as him being a one and done? No way at this point. Not even close. He isn't even a top 120 recruit. He is ranked around 130 to 140. Still very good but nowhere able to be a one and done. He could move up in the rankings of course. He would have to have a phenom type freshman year to even have someone mention him being a one and done though. He would need to have a lot better year than Jeremy Hemlsey of San Diego St. as a freshman just for comparison.

Jeremy Hemsley received freshman of the year from the coaches and was ranked around 75 last year overall in the recruiting rankings and he isn't close to a one and done.

Hope Wyoming lands Parker for sure but we should probably not make him into something he isn't yet just out of fairness to the kid. Otherwise we end up with 8 foot Nigerian giants that can handle the ball like Magic Johnson supposedly coming to play for us if any of you remember that rumor. :lol:
 
Damn...just had a thought, but it is too late now! A couple of former assistant athletic directors would be happy to provide Parker with a "BJ or 2 a week" to keep him happy. Worked for Desmar and AJ...for a while at least.

Don't forget David Rottinghaus was a Top 100 recruit according to Rivals when we landed him.

At least Wyoming is listed as an early offer for young Mr. Stewart according to a couple websites.

Was he really? The day Wyoming signed rottinghaus and joe Reis was the day that reminded us of who we are. Imagine a couple ball players in those 2 guys places at that time in wyo bball history
 
Parker has a picture of him and Coach Beilein from Michigan posted to his twitter account yesterday. Coach Beilein went to Union City TN to visit with him and his family personally. Does anyone know if Allen has gone to see him since being named head coach?? We definitely don't need to be losing ground to these bigger schools.
