We have a new page online! History of Wyoming bowl games! A few of the early bowl games information is incomplete, so I'm working on tracking down that info. If any of you have any information regarding that stuff, PLEASE feel free to chime in here, or email me or PM me. I would love to get this information as complete as possible. Anyways, page can be found on the main page > Cowboy Sports > History of the Bowls. Here's a direct link:

Hey Mr. T,
I actually was looking up Wyoming Bowl history myself not long ago and found some interesting web sites. Here's one from the 1951 Gator Bowl.

and here's one with some old footage off of youtube.
the video kind of sucks but what do expect from almost 60 years ago. :)

Found this one as well from the Gator Bowl in '51:

Box score for the '68 Sugar Bowl

Another interesting tidbit I found about the Sun Bowl was that they had started to hand out the Most Valuable Lineman Award and in 1966 Jerry Durling won the award for the Pokes.

If you want, I can find the win/loss records for every team we played in the bowl game that season.

Plus give Wyoming's own win/loss record for each bowl season.

That'd be sweet, Okie.

I'll work on it tomorrow since I can't go volunteer at the Oklahoma History Crnter tomorrow. More snow is falling here and the roads will be really bad tomorrow morning.

The 1951 Gator Bowl we went undefeated.

Here's the info on akll of our bowl opponents from the 1950s until 1976 since we already got the info for the Holifday Bowls to the New Mexico Bowl.

All win/losds records are BEFORE the bowl game.

1950 (actually 1951) Gator Bowl: Wyoming (9-0, Mountain States (aka Skyline): 5-0, Skyline Conference Champions)
Washington & Lee Generals (8-2; Southern Conference: 5-0; 1st)
Some notes: W&L only losses prior to their Gator Bowl loss to WYOMING were to Virginia (in Richmond), 26-21, and to Tennessee (in Knoxville), 27-20.

1955 (actually 1956) Sun Bowl. Wyoming (7-3 Skyline: 5-2)
Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-2-1; Border: 3-0-1, Border Conference Champions)
Some notes: the tie was @ UTEP, 27-27 and the losses were to TCU, 32--0 in Lubbock, and @ Houston, 7-0.

1958 Sun Bowl. Wyoming (7-3, Skyline: 6-1, Skyline Conference Champions)
Hardin-Simmons Cowboys (6-4; Border: 4-0, Border Conference Champions)
Some notes: NFL legend Sammy Baugh was their HC that year! Losses were: @ Baylor, 14-0, @ LSU, 20-6, @ Ole Miss, 24-0, and vs. Arkansas in Little Rock, 60-15.

1966 Sun Bowl. Wyoming (9-1, WAC: 5-0, WAC Champions)
Florida State Seminoles (6-4, Independent)
Losses were: vs. Houston, 21-13, Florida, 22-19, @ Virginia Tech, 23-21, & @ Syracuse, 37-21.

1967 (actually 1968) Sugar Bowl. Wyoming (10-0; WAC: 5-0, WAC Champions)
Louisiana State Tigers (6-3-1, SEC: 3-2-1)
how they ended up in the Sugar Bowl that year since that had always taken the SEC Champions prior to the start of the BCS is beyond me!

1976 Fiesta Bowl. Wyoming (8-3, WAC: 6-1, Co-WAC Champions with BYU  )
Oklahoma Sooners (8-2-1; Big Eight: 5-2, three way tie for 1st with Okie State and Nebraska)
The tie was against Texas in Dallas, 6-6.
