Ludicrous is a word that comes to mind.

I think y'all're completely missing the point- the (possibly apocryphal) dome is nothing but a symbol of one talented coach's frustration at a pivotal point in Wyoming Athletics' history. It's about the attitude and culture Ackers encountered as he tried to pursue a vision. Judging by how some people here put their preferences and likes ahead of what would probably be best for the program's future, it's an attitude and culture that continues nearly forty years later, manifested, largely, in the "good 'nuff" POV of way too many "fans".

Maybe, but I hardly think the answer is in holding our collective noses and hiring someone of highly questionable integrity. Why aren't you lobbying for someone like Gary Andersen or Mike MacIntyre? Neither one of those two has a million + contract.

I hear a lot about Aggie football.....its going to take a lot bigger program than Wyo to pull Gary Anderson; he is the king of Logan. Not to mention that Wyoming is not a step up from Utah State as hard of a pill to swallow as that is. Its much easier to recruit to Logan compared to Laramie and no political garbage. I can see Gary staying in Logan a loooong time. Not to mention Utah high school football is starting to garner big time attention and is becoming very high quality.

I think there is no more clear example than IDAHO of what failing to adequately invest in the program and facilities may cause. Idaho is on the verge of being forced to FCS irrelevance (and they won't be a very good FCS team as they will face a mass exodus of players). Idaho has noone to blame but themselves.

Hopefully the State will recognize this fact, look down the road in Fort Collins and realize that we have to make a big investment/statement very soon.

Above all else, this is the most important thing. I'm no expert....I don't know what UW should do, but clearly something needs to happen. They can't just sit on their asses and say, "Ahh.....we'll be fine".

Thing is, it's not just the University and athletics, it's the City of Laramie and its movers and shakers. Laramie's economy is too one-dimensional since the UP pretty much pulled out. Locals need to shop and dine locally, merchants need to support each other and present a stronger interest in front of city government and the university. In many ways, UW's growth is constrained by the city it's in and the minds that inhabit that city.
