Herron at RB...

It sounds like the staff is definitely trying to find a way to get the ball in this young kid's hands. Quote from Gags blog...

–True freshman Robert Herron looked good again at running back. He was moved there from receiver Wednesday. Herron, who has been timed at 10.5 seconds in the 100-meter dash, got a lot of reps with the No. 1 offense.

“I think he’s doing a tremendous job,” coach Dave Christensen said. “He’s got great quickness. He’s still learning the postion. When he gets in there he’s done well.”

Christensen added he isn’t ready to say where Herron is at on the depth chart.

Herron looks like a playmaker. When I watched his highlight tape, I was absolutely amazed that he was still available in the fall. Sounds like a lot of teams shyed away from him because it was in doubt whether he would qualify academically.

The coaches sound like they want to get the ball is this guys hands one way or another. I wouldn't be surprised to see him lining up at both WR and RB throughout the season. This is just speculation on my part, but I could definitely see UW putting in a "Wild Cat" formation with Herron taking the snap.

I haven't heard anything about him working with the punt return team for a while, and frankly, I'm a little bit relieved. There are very few true freshman that I would trust in that position. It takes a lot of experience to learn when to call for a fair catch, let the ball bounce, etc. Wrong decisions can result in turnovers that are huge momentum killers.

Or part of the "Wild Crum" formation

That's pretty dang fast. Looking forward to seeing the kid on the field.

It's about how fast Devin Moore ran, so... I have a feeling they're hoping we have another Lightning on our hands.

He also ran a 20.99 200-meter dash which is scary fast for a high school kid! I believe it was the top mark in all of California last year.

Wouldn't mind seeing Herron work out of the slot and out of the backfield. He will be deadly not only running the ball from a traditional sense, but also out in the flats and with screen passes. Hope he becomes the Pokes Darren Sproles!
