Help for your "football challenged" friends

[Long time lurker here, who rarely posts. I enjoy this board, but I believe it best for parents to stay out of most of the discussions, so I mostly lurk.]

In an effort to increase the numbers in attendance for tomorrow's game and future Pokes games, we are conducting a short program on football for UW's international students tomorrow morning at the College of Law (which is just west of the Arena Auditorium). The details:

“How to Watch a Football Game (U.S. Style)”

by College of Law Dean Steve Easton and Associate Dean Matt Wilson

Saturday, September 7, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Room 182 (Small Moot Courtroom) at the College of Law

[Our pitch: Learn the basics of the American game. After the presentation, all who attend are invited to join the students, staff, faculty, and alumni of the College of Law at the annual College of Law tailgate party (just outside the College of Law). FREE FOOD.]

Please feel free to invite any of your football-challenged friends to join us. Although the idea for this program was to get UW's international students into football, and specifically Wyoming football, any and all who would like to attend are welcome to do so.

Warning: This will be a very basic program, covering things like "four downs to get ten yards" and the definition of a touchdown. Thus, nobody on this board would gain any benefit from attending. However, some of us have folks we drag to football games who say "I really don't understand what is going on." If you have such a friend, feel free to send him or her our way tomorrow morning.

GO POKES!

Very cool program. I've pretty well indoctrinated everyone that I know, but I'll be sure to pass the information along to people that could use it!

Do you plan on doing this on other weekends? If you do over homecoming, I'll bring a few folks along!
________

No current plans to repeat this mini course, but I suppose that could change.

Sorry to give such late notice to all here. Was out of town in northwestern Wyoming most of this week.

Quick question; How do the guys like the hurry up offense? I'm pretty sure the defense isn't thrilled about it, but what about the offense, if you know?

______

Apologies for not getting to this question earlier: Have not heard much conversation specifically about this among the players, but my impression is that they like the quick snaps. Interesting that Idaho sometimes used the same strategy against our defense.

Note: Got 35 or so at our seminar on understanding football. Mostly, or perhaps all, international students. All were heading to the game. Good enthusiasam at the event, and the game was great, so I think we have about three dozen new Pokes fans!

Your boy had a nice touchdown today! Congrats!

That he did. Must come from good genes.

_____

You are probably right. But Tedder is adopted, so he got those genes elsewhere. Lucky for him, too, as he would never be playing Division I football with my genes!

Thank you for the kind thoughts. It was mighty fun for his mother, brother, grandfather, and I (all of whom, through his brother's hard work, were at the game yesterday) to see Tedder get a touchdown for the Pokes.
