Heard Bohl is cleaning house

I'm guessing since Bohl is in season two, this is going to be from player who packed it in. One of our walkons, perhaps?

After reading through this post, almost everyone is somewhat right about the cause of attrition. Some players don't fit into the new scheme, some players can't handle the culture change, some of it is due to the coaches. Some of the coaches try to weed out players who they don't like and others just don't get along. I think that the current staff had become accustomed to success while at NDSU, and when things start going south things aren't always handled properly. Many of the injuries that occurred last year were because of high intensity practices with minimal recovery time deep into the season. All of those ACL tears were non-contact, and those kinds of injuries occur when there is either an imbalance in the body or a high level of fatigue...
Some players were asked to leave because due to a variety of different reasons, either due to the player's actions or their lack for potential action on the playing field.
I will also say this, the head man is not who he appears he is.

I think that the main underlying problem is a lack of identity within the program and the school as a whole. Many of the students don't support the team and will openly express it. This is extremely off putting to an 18 year old kid who moved 2,000 miles, excited to live his dream of playing D1 football. Hearing the starters getting cussed out by "fans" at home games wouldn't necessarily make you want to stick around. I understand that many of you are proud of the University and its history, as are tons of the current students from Wyoming and the surrounding states. But a player coming in from California or Florida has not been exposed to the culture and history and won't understand initially. Of course this sense of pride comes with winning records. Winning records are hard to produce when you can't develop players in a system for 2+ years. Switching to a completely different system is not an easy thing to do. Great plays happen when players can play without thinking, and this comes with comfort. Not only do players have to learn different plays and occasionally positions, but a whole new language. The offense and defense last year were able to make up for a lack of complete understanding with overall playing experience.

And anyone who thinks uniforms won't help recruiting.... they will. It's sad, but that's how things are today.

To elaborate more on the coaches... A few are great, while others are straight up disrespectful. It's to the point that it will carry over off the field, with players being constantly degraded in the film room, a place where learning and teaching is essential to install a new system. If a player is viewed as having no value to the team's on field success often times they are treated unfairly in hopes that they'll leave and free up a scholarship for someone else. Things are not all clean and pristine within the program.

Of the head man (Craig Bohl) you say; 'he is not who appears to be."

Would you please elaborate on this comment with some specificity for us?

Thank you.

I firmly believe that the man does not truly care for each of his players. Maybe a select few, but his true care is for his record and the way he outwardly appearance. While this is understandable because everyone knows that Division 1 is a business, he misleads many into thinking that he cares for more than their product on the field.

How would you know how he appears to me?

Hahaha no shit welcome to the real world. Lifes a bitch.

Never said it wasn't like the real world. And in the real world, many people stay and stick through tough times while others think it is in their best interest to leave. But unlike the very real world it is, it appears to me that many people on this board have an unrealistic expectation that every athlete will stick around.

That sounds like of football programs. Some coaches try tough love, some try different approaches. Some kids react different to those kinds of tactics.

In particular about hc Bohl and not what he appears to be, are you saying he's an asshole? Most Head coaches are assholes from what I gather. My uncle won 88 straight games as an Idaho high school coach and he's pretty much an arrogant asshole too.

I'm not sure how I feel about riding a kid until he quits so that the scholarship can be better utilized. Mixed feelings

My correction, he is not what he tries to emulate.

I don't know who you are, or even if you are legit. However, giving you the benefit of the doubt I'll conclude you left the program for reasons of your won. How about telling us what they were?

I'll also state that the program is moving ahead and in the right direction so far as I may surmise. Does Bohl love each of his players to death? Of course not! What coach does? You guys get yelled at in the film room and in practice? Suck it up bro, because if you're talking about this year's team, if I were in that film room as a coach, I'm certain I would have made some paint peel from the walls.

You also omit the fact that Bohl never buries his players publicly, and he never tarnishes them to the press...in fact it's the contrary completely. Bohl has been super positive after every game this season, no matter if the team played well...or not.

His words are not consistent with his actions. Players have been misled into thinking he had their back and then dropped without hesitation. It's true, that this does happen across college football and I never said that it doesn't. I'm just bringing things to light for those of you who do have a misled perception.

I earned my degree from the University of Wyoming and contributed regularly to the program's success.

If you contributed to success, you must not have been here under Bohl which makes me question how much stock I want to put into your comments....

Touche, this actually made me laugh pretty hard. I'll say that I contributed to our wins and losses for both DC and Bohl.
