Heard an interesting caller on Sportsline Live last night...

Although the old fart did sound drunk...which you never know...it made me realize something about the average (maybe) Wyoming fan:

They are ignorant, yet also complacent. Which is interesting if you think about it. This caller didn't even know TCU was in the MWC...but was sure to rip UW for letting Joe go, as he said there is more important things than winning. He was satisfied with were the UW football team finished this year, and was concerned more about the weather on Saturdays than the scoreboard. Hmm.

Acceptance of mediocrity is surely the start of a long death.

I heard that portion of sportsline on my way home as well. I don't think he is a representative of the average Wyoming fan. I truly believe that fans want to be MWC title contenders. Joe Glenn and the support he has/had (I count myself as a Joe Glenn supporter - though fully admit it was time for a change) are the exeption, not the rule. You have to realize Joe Glenn did more goodwill for the state than any other football coach ever has or will, he is truly a good guy and easy to like; thats why people wanted so badly for him to succeed and to were willing to give him as long as possible to make it happen. I mean the fact he was told he still has a job with the University if he wants it speaks volumes to what he was able to accomplish off the field for UW and the state. That being said, a football coach's #1 job is to produce on the field and that's why the change was made and needed. I think most Wyoming fans realize that, but emotions run high around situations like this, Stutz's comments prove that.

Joe Glenn is a terrific man, no doubt. And he was monumental for the program, coming off the Vic years. Additionally, he was the best "face" of cowboy football since Paul Roach.

Joe Glenn, though, was not a great HC here at Wyoming. For whatever reason(s), as we have all discussed and agreed or disagreed upon.

So...we have Joe Glenn the person, and Joe Glenn the coach...
