Nearly in tears at points, UW football coach Craig Bohl thanked the university and its athletic department for “having faith in a guy from North Dakota” and believing in a vision to raise the bar for its athletic programs.

“Football coaches aren’t supposed to cry, damn it – we have a big game coming up – but after 34 years of athletics, I’m firmly convinced this facility … is going to provide unbelievable opportunities for all of our student athletes and is going to redefine the university,” he said. “Winning does count. How people feel about the university does count.”

“The state’s match of $20 million is significant, but is just that: it’s a match, and it comes with a challenge to the University of Wyoming Foundation, the Cowboy Joe Club and citizens across Wyoming,” Mead said. “The message and challenge is this: I believe in you, the Legislature believes in you, now go out and find citizens in this great state who believe in you, too. And we’re here today because we all believe.”
