Greatest player to ever wear the brown and gold?

Who and why.

Tough question. And I am assuming this isn't just about football? Not sure it can be accurately answered with just one athlete. Kenny Sailors, Fennis Dembo, Tubbs Bradley, Marcus Harris, Jim Kiick, Conrad Dobler, Jay Novecek, and the list goes on and on and on.

And I would say without a doubt, I think, the greatest player to ever wear B&G was Kenny Sailors. Inventer of the jump shot, 3 time all american in 1942/1943/1946, 1943 NCAA Tournament MVP, 1943 National championship team member, college basketball player of the year in 1943.

JOVON BOUKNIGHT!!!!!! But seriously Fennis... Kenny Sailors... Theo Ratliff... and you might laugh at this one... Marcus Bailey he wouldve broken so many records if he wouldnt have gotten hurt his senior year and that team would have went to the Tourney rather than the NIT

The greatest player in the last decade IMO goes to Hanna Zavecz.

The greatest player in my lifetime goes to Marcus Harris. He wasn't fast at all, but all he did was make catches and make plays. (can't pick greatest ever as i didn't see everyone play).

My vote goes to Bill Garnett. He had a lot of help around him but he was simply dominant for 2 straight years when Wyo. went to the NCAA tourney and then gave Georgetown all it could handle. He was to my knowledge the highest drafted Wyo. player ever ( 4th pick). He was a great rebounder and scorer in the paint. No one could play him one on one. Back when the WAC had Utep under Don Haskins, and BYU had Danny Ainge, and SDS had Michael Cage, Garnett still stood out.

My vote for best football player would have to be Randy Welniak. He was the most athletic and clutch QB that I've ever seen at Wyoming. Quick feet and incredibly accurate passer on the run or in the pocket, he engineered many great comebacks under Paul Roach. Wyo. went 16-0 in the conference in two straight magical seasons.

Not a "player" but I have to mention Shauna Smith (from Sheridan) who was NCAA champion in the 400 meter hurdles about 4 years ago. To see her run in person was an incredible treat. She has set conference records that may last for decades.

If we're basing this on overall career rather than just at UW, then I have to go with Jim Kiick. Not only was he a great player for us, he was integral to the success of the only professional football team to go undefeated.

I have a few for the list:
Ryan Yarborough
Marcus Harris
Ryan Christofferson
Javon Bouknight

Yeah, I'm showing my age, I don't remember back much further than Yarborough. :)

However, others like Jim Kiick, Conrad Dobler, and Jay Novacek were fine players for the Cowboys as well, I just never saw them play live. :)
