I think if we are just talking college then it is John Wendling and I don't think many of those other guys are that close. Only Bouknight and D Mo would be in the conversation to me because they both had moves and were quick.

John Wendling was by far the best defensive player on the team who had by far two of Wyoming's best defenses ever the years he played. One of those defenses finished ranked #9 in the country at the end of the year in total defense. And they were playing with a terrible terrible offense.

So John Wendling gets my vote hands down.

IDK, depends on the intent of the original poster I guess. I considered Chuckwurah but left him off because of when he played. I also considered Al Rich from the 2000 team (6 year player). IMO, Al Rich was the most feared Cowboy defensive player just due to the reckless abandon he played with.

I would throw Jeff Boyle into that mix as well as far as "most feared defender"

This was more of an exercise to show how many great players we've had this century. Wyoming has played in 3 bowls this century (average) but a ton of guys that were fun to watch!

Loved watching Al Rich play. He was a beast on defense...especially against AFA. It's to bad he was moved to running back and then got hurt. The guy was a player. Chuckwurah is 4th all time in sacks. He was about the only good thing on the 2000 team. He had heart too. Great players....both of them.
