I wondered what would happen when we played a team with size. They beat Utah so they're probably no slouches. We don't have any traditional post up players. The thread that was comparing this team to the Larry Nance teams was bit ridiculous, imo. This team is no where near as talented as Linder's 2021 team. But posters hate Jeff Linder, so there's that. This team has some nice players. But we have no talented big men and we are vulnerable to teams who have size that go inside. We can't stop them.
We over passed the ball in the first half and that led to a lot of turnovers. That can be corrected. But we are a mostly terrible 3 point shooting team. Gores and Belic are going to struggle against most of the big men in this conference.
I think this team can compete. Let's see how the next 3 or 4 games play out. I'm hoping today was just a bad day and this team will rebound and play a lot better.

They shut down our dribble drive, which has been our bread and butter.
Linder didn't coach Nance.
GCU is a good team, and we also played one of our worst games of the season today.
For whatever reason, we just didn’t have it today. All teams have games like that. It is just unfortunate it was in our conference opener after a public push for more fans to show up.
Disappointing showing today for sure, but I don’t think it will define our season.

I gotta go with just a bad day. I really think we are way better than what the Pokes put on the floor today. This team gave Texas Tech on the road all they could handle....
And Tech just beat the #3 team Duke. I gotta think we will get better and will still have a say in the MWC this year. At least it was worse for CSU today.

I doubt this is their reasoning but there is a time when Antelopes is appropriate usage when referring to multiple types of antelope.

You are just such a ray of sunshine. Not sure why you really bother to try and be a fan at this point. You seem to hate everything that IS modern college sports to the point you wish failure on our program.

Lmao. OK, retard. I, a long suffering Pokes fan that goes to every game, am tired of mediocrity. It is high comedy to listen to the coaches, administration, message board posters whine about low attendance when we are getting a crap sandwich. It’s a wonder ANYONE EVER goes to any basketball games after what we have been forced to put up with. We suck and have sucked for decades. There was a big effort to shame people and get them to turn out and then the team gets down by 30 almost immediately. It was a joke despite what you may think. They really dropped the damn ball . How long do they suppose pokes fans will show up to watch us finish 9,10, or 11th every year?

This one was ugly for sure, but as many here have said it was an off night against a VERY good team. Hopefully this is a wakeup call for this team. They were getting a bit of an inflated view of themselves. I'd rather see us crash in the first conference game than in the tournament.
The 2 biggest things that did us in were their size and our lack of shooting. Every player has an off night from time to time, but the entire team having an off night is incredibly unlucky. They were packing the paint to take away our dribble drives and we couldn't hit a three to save our lives.

I don't think the size really had a huge impact on the game. We got outrebounded by 3. Points in the paint favored us by 2. The game simply came down to our ineffective perimeter shooting. 3-26 is an abomination. If we shoot 35-40% from 3 we are right in the game. Kids were scared IMO during the first 5 minutes. They got it taken to them and fought to try to get back into it but GCU hit a key basket every time we had good momentum. Tough game but not the end of the world. Sundance will use it as motivation and a teaching tool. We will still be alright.
