GoWyoGo is being ruined from within.

First, let me say, I'm glad to be here. I just found you folks. I am a long term Wyoming fan, love the state, visit often, love the Cowboys, had a daughter get a couple GREAT degrees at UW, have followed UW sports since the early 60's, and am EXCITED about the Christensen era starting on Saturday. Being a new member and not being familiar with this site I apologize if this is the wrong place for this post.

I learned of the GoWyoGo site, the OTHER site, while talking to a fellow fan at the War while watching Furman go through their get-acquainted-with-the-field practice in 2001. I didn't know there was a forum for UW sports. Anyway, I signed up and participated in the site for years until they went to a pay board and I think Ian, the board owner, is a class guy. I've always been impressed with him. I'm writing this here because I can't post there, since I haven't paid, but I want to get my thoughts out.

Ian's site is being destroyed from within and the biggest reason, in my opinion, is Ian's tolerance, and support for the BOZO of Wyoming, wyopoke. Yes, the BOZO of Wyoming. Ian allows him to rant on about his personal vendettas and get in weekly battles with anyone who doesn't agree with him. Wyopoke's constant attacks on Texas Christian University's commitment to Christianity and his childish rants about their football coach, who must have failed to bow to him at some event, are unbelievable coming from a writer who was accepted into the Baseball Writer's Hall of Fame. I'm sure that inductance was one of those "you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back" kind of deals. His personal bias, childish writings, false accusations, and attacks are unreal but Ian seems to miss how these attacks and wyopokes attacks on anyone who disagrees with him, have contributed greatly to the slow death of his board. Wyopoke continues to drone on and LIE about TCU's supposed intent to hide it's roots in Christianity and continuously states/implies that the school is trying to hide it's longer' name, Texas Christian University'. He hopes no one will check out his assertions for themselves and NOT SEE the TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY proudly displayed on the front page of their website. I am NOT a TCU fan, at all, but I am a Christian and I know his continuous lies about the school are untrue and I am bewildered why Ian, a seemingly good and smart guy, allows the clown to drool on about this and fight with nearly everyone about anything. What a shame. The exalted position that Ian has afforded wyopoke has turned many off and hurt Ian's board.

I was tempted to pay the $100. to GoWyo just to regularly refute the fool but it is surprising, and disappointing, to see how some members bow to him. Some see him as a celebrity I guess. lol Okay, enough on that. I had to get it out because he posted another Christianity denial today.

Okay, on to the 2009 season, and I again apologize if this is the wrong place for this. I'm happy I found the Wyonation board and look forward to a STRONG turnaround in football. Go POKES!!!

You don't like Ringolsby because of his apparent personal attacks but this whole long post is simply just a personal attack.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone is entitled to disagree with that opinion. I've never talked nor met either of you, could care less about gowyogo (or any site that charges to use a forum), just a neutral observation.

Good observation, Oredigger. I was venting and it was a personal attack, no doubt, and I don't like that style but his behavior, and that board's tolerance for it, drove me. That's off my chest. I appreciate the neutrality of your post though, and agree with you on pay sites. Ths.

Hey, thanks for comin' aboard southtexas. I'm gonna swap this over to another forum just for cleanliness and topic. I tend to lean against hammering on GWG, but I'm not going to slap your hand either. I'm glad people are coming over here. I originally created this website not to compete w/ GWG, rather to give fans another way of following the Cowboys, but the increase in traffic because of former GWG posters has been great. We have a great group of posters over here who love talking Cowboy sports, and that's what we're all about. Again, welcome aboard, feel free to stick around. ;)

Thank you, MrTitleist. I'm glad I found this site and I appreciate the welcome. I am impressed with the site so far. Very nice.

Pay your money and be accepted by the cool kids or don't pay your money and hang out with us dorks (at least that's what I get out of this thread).

Free sites are better because you get the occasional nut case from another school. Pay sites get kinda inbread after a while. No excitement. Plus I'm REALLY cheap.

I see no reason why both can't co-exist.. which is the way it should be.
I agree 100% Mr Titleist, good stuff on both boards. glad they are both avaliable to me.
GO POKES

I first thought I'd do that, Wyo1, but when I went to sign up for the 7 day trial I saw where I had to submit a credit card number, pay, and then I guess withdraw before the 7 days were up. I didn't want that hassle or the possibility of a refund screw up.

MrTitleist, I agree both can co-exist and that would be best. I hope it happens for Ian's sake. He is a hard worker and has tried hard to keep all parties happy for a long time. I always enjoyed my association with him. I'll also give props to Aggiepoke, DCpoke, and other Poke fans from that board who post a lot of great links on a regular basis. We are all Poke fans, old, young, fervent, passive, etc., and we all benefit from having as many sites as possible.

DCPoke posts on this board occasionally as The Virginian, I don't know that AggiePoke posts over here.

Pay sites get in bread! ;)

Get it? Get it?

I know what you meant, you meant inbred like BYU, not ....oh well.

:D

I'd been on GoWyoGo since slider first had his AOL Guestbook (which used to be available on the internet archive, I should look for it). Too many of us old timers got burned out on the constant infighting and name calling on GoWyoGo. I was slowly not posting anyway and when it went paid, I never joined. I occasionally lurk, but that's it. Thanks guys, for running this free board.

Absolutely. And people can decide on thier own which direction to go. Welcome to WyoNation SouthTexas!

It is kind of shocking that Tracy Ringolsby, (wyopoke) would be a regular poster there (or anywhere) in the first place. It cannot be any fun (and isn't that the whole point most of the time?) ;)

Thanks McPeachy, I appreciate the welcome. I'm sure impressed by what I see here. Thank goodness we have talented, diehard fans who set these forums up and run them.

BTW, I liked your response to ol' Kyle, the wildcat who got a bit carried away! Ogden State

Me too, since Slider's AOL days. Oh well.
