...that their coach had to apologize for his comments in this article.

I would feel bad for idaho had they actually been investing in their programs. But they have almost the same exact facilities they had when they moved up to FBS from the Big Sky. They dug the hole they have by ignoring what it takes to stay FBS.

Sorry but they have shown they are not willing to do what it takes to be competitive.

I feel bad for Idaho for a few simple reasons. Wyoming would be in that exact spot the saving grace for us is no 2nd university in the state that has pulled national attention and no BCS team 8 miles away in Washington. Sure they dug the hole by not improving the program but look at all the exact characteristics 20K population town, tiny market and tiny fan base.

I know that no one wants them in the MWC because it will drag the conference down but let's be serious this conference has already been at it's highest height and television contract completely fucked it from getting larger and now all the big name schools are gone it's not going to have that opportunity again anytime soon.

MWC may not vanish but it's never going to be a power in the college football market I say it hurts us none having Idaho in the MWC and more importantly the mid majors have to stick together but that is just my opinion on it all.

The only reason Idaho moved to the FBS was because refusing to do so would be an admission that in-state rival Boise State was better. The financial support in the state would shift. 10+ years later, and that happened anyway. Its all down to pride now. They'll keep this charade going even if it kills them. Independence? Really? That approach is rough for schools who have the resources. They simply don't have the resources or want-to in order to be FBS.

The crazy thing is, the Vandals wouldn't even be in the top tier of Big Sky schools. Some of their fans see them as a very inferior conference, yet I'd like my chances with Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington (Happen to play this Thursday), Portland State, etc. They want badly into the MWC, yet I'm not sure they would even perform at a high level in the BSC. Where is the incentive for the MWC? They gain the Spokane market? Are you shittin' me? Spokane is owned by WSU alums.

The logical and correct thing to do is return to the Big Sky. That's not the way this will end though....

Bottom line: the Palouse is barely grounds for one FBS school, let alone a second. Its the equivalent of there being a school 8 miles from Laramie.
