Good to have the Boot, But...

We got more games to play, the season is not over. I love Wyo Fans, but talking to alot of people we act like we won the super bowl. We have to set our expectations higher than just beating a mediocre CSU team. I respect the military, but I cannot stand howdy doody and the fly boys. Along with Utah state and Boise state, I actually wanna beat them this year more than the rams. Sellout the freakin war on Saturday!!!

Fans are excited after a big win over our rival, breaking a 3 year losing streak to those guys. In the last 3 years CSU didn't just beat the Pokes, they dominated them. CSU may not be world beaters this year, but the same CSU would have beat us the last 3 years. Beating them by 21 not only makes fans feel good, it also shows how much progress has been made in the program.

That was a big win - and we as fans are justified to be very excited.

With that said, I agree - lots more football to be played and I trust that Bohl and Co. will have the team focused for AFA. This is a huge game, and a chance to win another big one that positions us very well in the conference and for a bowl bid this year.

i get that big time like I said, Focus, Focus, Focus, we got yet another big one with another arch rival in AFA, just hope our boys will be up to the task!!!! Also it was brought up on a radio show this morning we need to have somebody create a travelling Howdy Doody trophy for this one, that'd be funny. GO POKES, BEAT THEM ZOOMIES

Great win and a good sign that the build is progressing.

The key is to remember that we will have ups and downs this season. As long as things stay competitive, I'm excited about the program. To me, this looks exactly like something building for a breakout year.

and doesn't make that loss to EMU that bad either, LOL

Yeah, this team has definitely made strides. Hell, even the Nebraska game had huge positives until we hit the 4th quarter, and Nebraska still looks like a solid team, surprisingly enough. Sure the EMU loss was rough and shouldn't have happened, but at least EMU has shown they're a better team than we thought and are 4-1 now. We also beat CSU harder than Minnesota did, despite Minnesota having home field and us playing CSU on the road. Minnesota did lose this weekend, but it was @Penn State and in OT, so they're not terrible, at least (I'm aware Penn State isn't amazing either).

Air Force is a very solid team this year. Navy's not a bad team at all, but Air Force still had a pretty easy win that could have been bigger if they had wanted it to be. Navy only scored in the fourth quarter after Air Force took their foot off the pedal. They managed 6 sacks in the game, something that concerns me a little bit.

The crazy thing is that we're probably the toughest team remaining on Falcons' schedule this season until they host Boise in their last game. If they beat us, they'll likely get 11 wins.

I don't expect us to win this one at all, but if we do, I don't see any excuse for this team to not get 8+ wins.

AFA's body of work, thus far, is a bit suspect. They did well defensively against a similar-sized Navy team, what appears to be a rather toothless USU offense, and surrendered 35 points to Abilene and Georgia State combined. Their offense seems capable, but their vaunted, new-found passing game isn't exactly shredding defenses.

I'll take the 'Pokes as double digit home 'dogs all day long... Money line looks interesting too at +340 (3.4 : 1)...

No one is satisfied, despite what Marty said. But it was a big win, and football should be fun and our guys had fun. Time to refocus.

This was a big win, but I don't think it was big for the obvious reasons though.

Coach Bohl is one hell of a motivator. But he has never won the boot before. He may had no idea how big of a rivalry this is and how important this trophy is to both teams, the universities, and the fans.

Many of the players had never won the boot before. The momentum of getting the boot back, and the motivation to coaching staff can supply, they can turn this into some huge positives.

DC won the boot. He probably tried to put it on and kick some players with it to demoralize them. Bohl on the other hand has one hell of an opportunity to unify this team this year.

Guys, I figured out the key to a Wyoming win. I just don't watch the game. When I tune in, they lose. When I have to work or have to be elsewhere, they win. I vow to not watch another second of Wyoming football this season! Great win Pokes. And it still sucks to be a CSU Ram!

See, I thought I was the key. The two games we lost, I wore my gold #5 jersey. The games we won before CSU, I didn't wear a jersey. For CSU, our most complete game, I wore my brown #16 jersey.

I will be wearing my brown jersey this weekend...while proudly displaying my big Wyo flag at work, where I work with a few Academy guys.

Go Pokes!

Who are you talking to? I feel most have absorbed this win for exactly what it was and for who the level of competition was. It is our rivaly game, which gets people more excited than normal, but I haven't seen any chest pounded.

Georgia State scored more against #9 Wisconsin (17) than they did against Air Force (14), to be fair.
Meh. The combined record of the teams AFA's beaten is 5-11. Abilene hung 21 points on them and they're 0-3. Navy's wins came against Fordham, UConn, and Tulane. I'm just not all that impressed with AFA so far this season...

Yeah, no matter how good AFA supposedly is and how shitty we may be, I'm never scared to play AFA. It always seems like we can beat them.

Anyone else remember back '02 when AFA was ranked in the top 25 and lost in Laramie? That was a season where our only other win was the Citadel.

This game is almost always close. Records can be thrown out of the window for these games.
