sad but true, $$$ is always the underlying answer and it's too bad. http://www.wyosports.net/university_of_wyoming/football/gagliardi-column-football-scheduling-continues-to-be-money-grab-juggling/article_96b44402-7afc-11e6-9274-bb12c860ecff.html

One of these days we should schedule Nebraska at mile high for a series. That would have a good turnout of Wyoming and Nebraska fans. It would put some money in the pocket too.

Do you think we could get 30,000 in Denver when we struggle to get 20,000 in Laramie?

I think fans might enjoy a "destination" game for a weekend in Denver..

Maybe. Maybe not. You can fly to Denver pretty cheap from many parts of wyo and montana. We have a pretty decent sized fan base on the front range. It's only 2 hour drive from laramie.

If we had to play a road game for money, I think Denver would offer a heck of an advantage for us.

The payoff of a neutral site game will come from who we play. Nebraska in Denver would be a money maker. But why would Nebraska care? They have a huge stadium right at home and don't have trouble putting people in it. There isn't a huge raceway to convert the extra 20,000 seats as has been done in SEC country.

Power conference teams don't do neutral site games against G5 teams that they have little to no history with and who have been awful for 20 years. Nebraska could do a neutral site game anywhere and it'd be a money maker, not just Denver. They have a national brand. If Nebraska ever does a game like that I imagine they'd do it to play a former Big 8 team like OU, certainly not Wyoming.

I'd think they would want to do it as the away team to give their fans in the Rockies a chance to attend a game against a g5 opponent on the road. Easier access than laramie. Bigger population than laramie.

You know what generates money? Winning and filling your stadium. What's the difference in money between selling out every home game and our current average over the 6 home games?
