If he stays out of trouble for the next 6 months, sounds like he can dig out of this. Perhaps the victim gave him some mercy.

He’s a young man who f’d up. Could be worse. I’m sure he regrets it and will think again about those types of situations.

I think he should be able to play next year and possibly find a career in the sport. I’d say the same if it was a CSU player.

I hope he comes back but I doubt it because he will be subject to University discipline if he does (he is now convicted of a crime that occurred on a University trip). His best bet is probably a graduate transfer.

Really wouldn’t be surprised to see him playing for a different school next year

Agreed. Unfortunately that is probably his best option because he won't be drafted at this point.

Why wouldn't he be? Sure he's played at a small school, but the dude's got a motor and has another season to show he's a great player. Plenty of players who were convicted with worse charges have been drafted in the past.

I hope he learns from this, and I hope the Pokes allow him to play next year.

If the decision were just up to the athletic department, I think that there would be a good chance of that in light of the probation sentence with the possibility to have the conviction expunged. But this goes beyond and falls under the student code of conduct (https://www.uwyo.edu/dos/_files/docs/2015-2016%20student%20code%20of%20conduct.pdf)...specifically Section V(B).

I believe you misread my post...I indicated he wouldn't be drafted if he came out this year in light of his recent conviction and approximate 5th-6th round grade without such conviction. I do believe he has a good chance of getting drafted if he fulfills his probation and has the conviction expunged and performs well next year (wherever that may be).

Oh! That makes perfect sense and I 100% agree with you.

ZERO chance he’s in B&G next season.

Thanks for the insight! Bummer to hear but totally expected. It will be interesting to see what school he ends up at as a grad transfer.

This is BS. I don't want him back on the team. After that type of action, I'm very surprised any team would take him.

He declared for the NFL draft weeks ago.

Maybe the broncos will sign him as a FA. Even if he makes a roster he will pay the price for this. The difference between making a roster as a FA and getting drafted in the 5th round is huge for his first contact ( which is usually all the majority of NFL players get).
