GDT: Wyoming vs. Boise St.

I'm starting to wonder how nick smith got a scholarship as a qb as well. His throws aren't even close

Why punt there? Bohl might as well just get the players on the bus now and not risk any more injuries with that play call.

I think nick smith's 3rd down pass is why he punted

Letting over a minute tick off when we knew we were forcing them to punt. The players didn't quit playing but the coaches quit coaching disgusting.

All week it's Boise is going to kick our asses. The game starts with the Pokes going downs big...thanks in part to (1) a pick six (close enough), (2) a drive that is extended because Eddie grabs a face mask during a sack, and (3) a questionable catch on a 3rd and long that wasn't reviewed. It appeared the experts and their line of -35 were correct. But, the Pokes if nothing else have fight. They don't give up. They have been playing much better D. And yes, they are still mostly underclassmen. Even thought it was a 20 point loss, it didn't have to be.

Its a nasty loss - that is for sure. Penalties killed us. The screen pass that was picked killed us.

I think our lines are getting better - but not quite there. We are getting better at stopping the run - A hell of alot better. We don't get pressure on the QB in passing situations though.

Offensively - the line is doing pretty decent - they could be better - but I think alot of that lies on the OC. When you decided to just run the ball, defensively, you've won half the battle - focus on the run - and realize, they will only pass every 6 plays or so. I think the OC is improving here though....

We did a hell of alot better tonight than I thought we would do.

I think this team is a few tweaks from winning more games. I noticed UW failed to be successful on the small aspects like converting on third & short last night. That, or make a key stop on third down. If they are able to make the plays when necessary, it could be the difference on drives that lead to scores or end in turnovers. Not saying we are close to a winning record, but certainly a team that can win more than 1 game through its first 8. Had UW played like it did last night earlier in the year, they might just be 4-4 instead of 1-7.

We should have been closer, but we played them two touchdowns closer than expected. Not happy about the loss, but I think we are still getting better. Moral victories! I think we could put a scare into USU.

Edit: I saw that Coffman has a separated shoulder. So no, we're nit competing with anyone as long as he's out.

I really thought the coaches treated this like a scrimmage. JMO.

Players are improving and definitely some beasts in this class.

I'm a fan of the recruiting, and I really hope the style changes when the team is not so young.

I am seeing big improvements overall in the lines and the team. I think with so many young guys we might be able to make the jump next year to winning like 5 games and then the year after is when we make a bigger jump and win like 8 or more. I am slowly starting to see what I think Bohl can turn us into hopefully.

You can see talent all over. It's not surprising that they are playing better as the season goes on.

I did get the feeling that we were trying not to get blown out.
Boise State went very conservative too. They were not after style points. Both teams seemed intent to just let the game bleed out. There was a preseason-ish feel to the game.

Do you see any real talent with our receivers? I know Gentry is out, but as a group, they look slow and unathletic to me.

Tons. It is just a thin position...like many others. You have two proven guys who have played in the past with Gentry and Maulhardt.....the rest came into this season with ZERO division one snaps. It takes time to learn the play book, etc. All the young freshman look the part, but they need some time. I've seen good things from Price, good things from Parker, and good things from Murphy...but they are all true freshman. Neither Maulhardt or Gentry did anything as true freshman.....they might have also had the luxury of red shirting.
