Gary Andersen to Wisconsin?

A source close to the football program told the State Journal on Tuesday night it is a done deal: Andersen is UW athletic director Barry Alvarez's choice to succeed Bret Bielema, who left to become the head coach at Arkansas.

I only include a question mark because its hard to believe.....credible source unlike most, but damn......Andersen looks like a stone-cold liar.

Only a few weeks ago Andersen released a statement saying he wasn't leaving USU.....then went on MULTIPLE radio stations, and had many articles stating that he loved USU and could see himself there his entire career. He's from that area, just about nobody had any reason to doubt him.....

Congrats to Wisconsin, Andersen is a GREAT football coach. But damn....the media is going to clobber his ass tomorrow. Not great times to be a fan of a non-AQ school. Everyone says, "T.V. money? What's the big deal?". This is the big deal. When someone like Wisconsin now has enough money to throw at Andersen that they overwhelm him into coming to Madison.

Definitely not a good sign. Makes you wonder about CDC. Its almost laughable to expect CDC to rise up to a level where he would get an offer like this, but its depressing to think that even if it did happen, he'd likely be on the first flight out of Denver the moment an offer arrived.

Espmmm reporting its pretty much a done deal with an official announcement coming Thursday, have to wait a min of 2 weeks after they open the position.

As a USU grad and a current Utah resident, some of the USU fans are straight up going stupid and soundling like BYU fans. And the BYU fans are piling on saying that the MWC and USU sucks again, blah blah blah. I reminded them on a call in show this morning that the reason Bronco is still at BYU is because NO ONE WANTS HIM! Period! NOT because he is loyal, but because he a $hitty coach.

As for USU, this is painful for me to see. However, with that being said, as my loyalties are 100% towards UW, I am okay with him leaving the conference, This helps Wyoming. Gary was a great coach and a huge icon in the community. He could recruit with the best of them. This is a good move for Gary...and for the Cowboys.

As a Wyoming and Wisconsin grad I have mixed feelings as well. As a Wyo fan, it's good to see a good rival coach leave. As a MWC fan (and anti-buy fan), its unfortunate to see a good coach leave. Finally, as a Wisconsin fan (always 2nd to my Pokes), I like this hire, especially over some of the other names that were being thrown around (Mel Tucker, Chris Ash, etc.). I'm excited to see how his recruiting goes, and intrigued to see what kind of offenses schemes he will run.

USU is going to take a pretty big hit here.

I never understood why Bielema left Wisconsin for Arkansas anyway. That doesnt seem like a wise move in my opinion. I'm not necessarily a Badger fan and I have nothing against Arkansas, but is Ark a better program than Wisconsin? I don't think so.

Academic requirements are no where near the same levels at Arky.

A little background on Bielema. He's a partier and a bit of a hound dog (hell, he dated Erin Andrews at one time). He, quite often, would get housed the night before games. Also went out on the town in Madison quite a bit. Flash forward to this spring when he got married. Now there is a lot of talk (rumor not fact) that his new wife may have had something to do with him looking elsewhere in order to get away from the ol' stomping grounds. So suddenly Ark comes calling and offering $4 million a year (almost double what he was making)...and he jumps.

What did he have left to do at Wisconsin? Only thing he didn't do there was win a national championship. I read somewhere in an interview where he thought he was getting stale in Madison.

they were going to be really good for years to come and funny how they were doormats early this century....goes to show ya that there's no real love for a school and that $$$ talks
