I agree and two of our guys aren't even suited up. Think they just had a lot of adrenaline to start the game with the new arena and all and Larry seeing his first action in the long time. I expect a cleaner 2nd half and Wyoming to pull away. Think once they get a few games under their belt they will keep improving and be very very tough by mid season.
 
Foul trouble doesn't seem to as big an issue this year. The depth can do just enough to keep us in games are even to pull away. Adams goes out and Jason comes back and hits 3. The depth and size are finally there to make teams frustrated.

Nope, no naps. Fully awake. Work DOC. They want you fully alert. And no one wants to work it. Hence working a two doubles... I'm not buying into there are no jobs in this country crap, people just don't want to work hard jobs. :thumbdown:

Rant done. Impressed with Nance. D looks a little slow, I'm sure we'll see some change ups, our shots look good and crisp. Shore up the D and this team will be good.
 
NAnce looking comfortable. Just stop that dude from draining everything he shoots and we'll be ok
 
Good win, Pokes. Nance looked 85% of Nance, which is as good as we could have hoped for. All the starters looked good, but not much from the bench. All in all a great game!

The bench didn't have to provide the points but what they did was provide the rest and not lose the lead. I'd like to see them bring some more points but all in all the bench looks better this year.
 
Pokes shot the ball well. Nance's first real test with undercut, a moment of concern for sure. Seems to be about a half a step off, jumps well off two feet, the test is that first cutting move to the hole. But all in all a good ball game with a tough and tested UNC club. Brandenburg on the bench was cool. Good sign there, he likes this club and Shyatt I'm told.

I too liked what I saw from the bench. I think everyone was rusty for most of the first half, but buckled down when they needed to. Impressed with Nance, but think he is a little slower right now than he wants to be. That will come along. Think Gorski and Washington will take some minutes from the other bench guys when they get healthy. But really like what I saw from Herndon and McNamenen. I think they will both eventually come into their own.

Overall a pretty decent start to the season considering this was the Pokes first game and UNC already had a game under their belt. They played well too...to give them credit.
 
UNC is going to beat their share of teams this year. Lot of rust for the Pokes, but man it was good to see them out there competing again. First game of the year is always one of the worst. The kids will continue to improve. All 5 starters in double digits in scoring...a good sign there for the offense. I'll take this one with a big smile and look forward to the next. Go Pokes.
 
For those that missed Shyatt's post-game comments: Lieberman, Aka Gorski and Barnes will all play this year. Williams will redshirt, while Washington is a possible redshirt.
