People still wonder why Wyoming doesn’t ever get invited to join another conference? I don’t think an FCS conference would even take them. Stuck with a moron as a HC and tied to him for years because of an idiotic AD. GOOD TIMES!!!
I think someone probably gave him that advice. “Keep these games close and you’ll keep your job”.
We’ve seen this approach for a while now. The last coach I can remember that didn’t roll this way was DC in his first year. Ever since then, we’ve been careful. Sucks.

Target to accomplish: 6 wins
Playing not to lose usually works with weaker opponents but rarely against better teams.
The OOC this year wasn’t friendly to getting 3 wins before conference play. Acknowledging that the schedules for all MWC teams to date are not equal the Pokes are the 11th place team in scoring at 16.75 points per game exceeding only Nevada at 15.
Other than the 2016 team the Pokes have consistently been amongst the lowest scoring teams nationally.
Ask yourself this question - Why would a skilled offensive player desire to play at Wyoming?
I fear the transfer portal in retaining any promising talent. So much for the AD who claims his hire was to keep a solid program together.

Defense doesn't have to manage game clock usually. His lack of experience there was pretty obvious.

I’m still sick today by what I saw last night in the 4th quarter. We look like a bunch of cowards in Wyoming. Too scared to play with the big boys and just hopeful to cover a spread. There can be no defense of Sawvel anymore. None.

It sounds like Sawful, in the post game presser, thinks since things didn’t didn’t get away from them and they didnt lose by 25………… that’s good enough in regards to the last 10 minutes. So, there ya have it. And everyone gets a participation trophy
