A blog of Cowboy football practices can be found online here. Check it out. Good resource for those of us that can't watch 'em live.

Highlights from practice #1 according to Gag's:

- Kankolongo is working with the one's while Alexander is working with the two's. According to Christensen, Kankolongo was #1 in the spring before he hurt his knee. This just blows my mind. I could definitely see how this could leave some of the guys disgruntled. I just don't understand how you can put a guy who has never took a snap as a Poke in front of a guy who has already proven himself. This sheds some light on why Darius Terry left in the spring.

- Two players in this years recruiting class won't be with the team this year because of academics: RB Evan Williams and CB Austin Daniels. I think we are fine at RB, but losing Daniels could hurt. I've always said I thought that guy could break the starting line-up his first year here.

- ACS threw 2 picks in 7 on 7 drills. One each to each Gipson brother. A little disappointing, but it is only the 1st practice and it sounds like the Gipson's made nice breaks on the balls.

- No injuries

That is one thing I really like about CDC - Talent gets the start. I'm just going to trust that he sees something in Kankolongo that makes him put so much faith in him. If he is more talented, it would be a waste to have him on the sidelines for a single game.
It's too bad he didn't recognize ACS's talent vs. Benjamins this early last year.

If it weren't for a new coach ready to shakeup the previous seasons starting positions, Air Force's Chad Hall would likely have never gotten to start a game.

Great two of the most athletic guys of the class ineligble before they start college :brick:

IMO, we'd have scored more vs. Texas and not been beat down vs. CU had ACS been in the game. :twocents:

I agree totally! I especially think that if ACS had gotten practice reps as the starter prior to CU, we would not have been embarrassed. Losing that one was really a let down.

Agreed but hind sight is always 20/20, but ACS did have to pass three other QBs on depth chart, Sween, Crum, and Benjo to crack the starting lineup. He now knows he's number one, I expect by the second scrimmage to be lighting up the scoring board. I hope our recievers can step up, I miss WR U! Looking at the online media guide and seeing how dominating Harris, Yarborough, Bouknight, Floyd, McGuffy were

I think we got to trust DC on the his judgment of talent. ACS got to play over Sween when he never took a snap of football. And if I remeber correctly ACS played more snaps then Benjamin when we played Weber st. and I believe he took quite a few snaps against texas. He might be playing Kankalongo over Alexander to maybe light a fire under Alexander and make him the player he can be. Again I have no problem with Nehamie getting a depth chart spot over veterans if DC believes that he is a better player and will help us win.

Dissappointed about Evan Williams. Does this mean he will not be coming to UW at all, or does he redshirt or come to campus next year?

It means that he probably didn't qualify academically according to NCAA standards. Thus, he won't be playing football for any team this year. As I understand it, when something like this occurs, any scholarship offers they may have had are basically null and void. Essentially, he will be recruited all over again in this coming year as if he were a high school senior. I don't believe it counts as a redshirt year or anything like that because they aren't part of any football team. If we appear solid at the RB position, Christensen very well may choose not to offer Williams again. Teams tend to shy away from these types of players.
