G6 playoffs

What if all G6 dropped all bowl affiliations and replaced with a playoff?

The highest ranked G6 team(s) go to the big playoff if invited. The highest ranked 12 or 16 remaining teams have a playoff...sort of like nit tourney. More games, practice, etc.

Personally, I'd find that more interesting than bowls and would set the stage for when the split happens.

bowl games between a 6-6 team and 7-5 team 2 weeks before Christmas have no appeal to me at all...even if one of them happens to be my team.

Really like the idea.

I think there is a good chance of something like this being set up once "the split" occurs. It will probably take a few years for the logistics to be ironed out and a media contract to be signed, but it seems like an inevitability once the lower level teams no longer have a seat at the big boys CFP.

I'd be very interested to see what the media contract ends up looking like. I highly doubt any of the traditional broadcast networks would want anything to do with it. ESPN has long been in bed with the SEC and the Big Ten started sleeping with the legacy big 3 (NBC, Fox, CBS) a few years ago. My bet would be some sort of streaming deal with Apple or Netflix.

I thought the big three were...ABC, CBS, and NBC. I can see FOX being in there but still....

So...what the hell happened to ABC's status?

I should have been more clear.

I typically use ESPN and ABC interchangeably. ESPN is just a subsidiary of ABC. As such, ABC is SEC territory.

Been saying something like this for years!! Give us sumethin to play for/towards...the current system sucks for conferences like the MWC....who knows when they'll listen to us fans tho???
