future visits FB

Now that we have had a couple weeks on visits, do we have any scheduled over the rest of the month. I know it is Dec. and will be looking at Xmas break soon. Will it be in Jan. before the next visits are set.

I sure hope we start to plug in the D side of the team. I know we have some LB and a couple DT & a back. What else are we looking for any ideas...

I know that they weren't looking at signing any WR or SPTs, a RB or two (which we currently have), 1 QB, 1 TE, a bunch on both lines, a couple of DBs, and few LBs. So far we have 13 verbals per Rivals, 0 QB, 2 RB, 0 WR, 4 OL, 2 DL, 3 LBS, 2 DBs.

I would expect to see something like 1 QB, 1 TE, 2 OL, 3 DL, 1 LB, 2 DB more verbals that would give us 23, which is what DC said he had in available schollies. :twocents:

This is based on nobody decommits or leaves the program which would open up a spot

I had heard that we will not sign a Qb this year... not sure where I heard but.

That would surprise me a bit. It must mean that Stratton is fairly healthy and is showing that he will be an effective option should the injury bug hit (which is likely with our QB style of play).

Don't you mean "with our offensive line style of play" ?

Yea definitely periods of that. However, all of our QBs like to be aggressive running with the ball (Brett only slid after the concussions and I don't foresee him sliding all too much). Stratton/Thompson will likely never slide and both have a fairly similar game although Thompson seems to have a better arm.

Thompson does have a cannon arm, but he needs to control it better. Deep balls, he's alright on. But he puts way too much power on his short throws.

We need run stuffers at any defensive position that can compete for starting position immediately, High Schoolers or JUCO.

What did Burman say in the CST..."we can't waste this offense"

I like the OL pick ups, we have a lot of WRs, but if a stud wants to come here take him (he will have to be a stud to compete with the WRs we will have available next year). I like the DL commits, and the LB commits seem solid... I would just like to see some homeruns... real difference makers on the the defense next year... We will see how it all turns out.

Our Dline is very young but talented, Uso should help right away in the middle and Yarborough and Puletasi on the ends should develop into good pass rushers but a 310 lb Freddy Given NT would be great. I would like to see some real a burners be recruited we lose Herron after next year and it would be nice to redshirt him.

FYI, Uso Olive is 305lbs and Mike Purcell is 303lbs. Granted, Purcell is graduating, but still.

We really could use a gap filler on the d-line and hopefully one that is from the juco ranks and has the body to do it. It is a lot to ask a freshman to come in and play on the offensive and defensive lines. That being said we did redshirt a handful of defensive lineman in the previous class so maybe they will be ready to step up and be something special. Sam Awrabi was a three star defensive end in last years recruiting class and I will be very interested to see what he can add to the d-end spot.

There was alot of defense in last years recruiting class that redshirted three defensive ends and three defensive tackles, three defensive backs, and one linebacker. If these guys are ready then I actually like the look of our defense with the current recruiting class.
