Victory!
And only 2 more until a .500 season is secured, I know a lot of people expected more but being able to claim a winning record is a big proof of concept for what Sunny is doing imo. I like what I'm seeing and am excited for the rest of the season and what 26/27 can bringVictory!
Do we cut Sunny slack until we pay in the same ball park as our competition for NIL? I don't know how to handle that aspect of hiring and firing coaches. Its the chicken or the egg thought I guess.NGL, the 5-10 conference record is incredibly disappointing. I'm giving Sunny some slack because it's really only his first full year, but we have GOT to figure out how to win on the road. Only 1 true road win this season (Air Force). I don't have much hope that we'll pull off an upset in Phoenix or Boise.
He's going to work with whatever funding he is able to use, but the more NIL he has the better the team will be. You can only build up lower level talent so far. At some point you need a star or 3 to be able to be competitive. I believe that Naz and Gores have the potential to be those stars, but I also believe that they are going to have to consider MANY offers of hundreds of thousands of dollars this offseason. I worry that no matter what players Sunny is able to land we will not be able to pay them enough to stick around after a good season.Do we cut Sunny slack until we pay in the same ball park as our competition for NIL? Finding a capable big man is like striking gold in college basketball. You can't coach size, and Gores has height and the capacity to add more muscle. He's proven to be a good contributor at the MW level, which is pretty damn good. He'll be fielding six figure offers for sure.Beating Air Force is like beating nothing. Air Force has only 1 conference loss where the margin was less than 10 points (SJS). We are Air Force's second closest loss.
Regarding NIL, I can see Naz getting offers. Many hundreds of thousands? I don't see it. He has had big numbers against the worst schools in the league. Against the better teams, he hasn't done much.
Gores isn't even close to being one of the top big men in the league. He has no post up skills and gets pushed around by the better teams in the conference. If these 2 get paid big money, I will be shocked. I understood Ike getting paid. He was a dominant player that required double teams.
Naz and Gores have potential, but they have a long way to go before they are even close to all conference players. Having said that, I don't know what players are getting. Is a mid tier player getting 3 or 4 hundred thousand a year? If so, then NIL is even crazier than I imagined.

This is the most likely scenario for both Gores and MeyerGores may get an offer better NIL after another year
