Jerry Smith didn’t hear Kaligis talk. He was headed home to Rawlins by then. No one has to worry about him abandoning the Pokes. Fans of 30-plus years don't jump ship.

But this season has tested him.

“We’ll be here to support them,” he said before exiting War Memorial Stadium. “But we are disappointed. … I don’t know. We’ll just see what happens next year, I guess.”
