You guys are right and Doc is wrong. This was a great win over a real good team. Hell the D came out to play and the fans showed up, it was awesome. Things are looking up in Laramie.

I'm not saying it was a great game. It was horrid on D! But it was a fun and entertaining game to watch. And a lot of seniors put in some big numbers. Be happy for them.
Not only that but we put our record offensive numbers. And 30 years from now you can say you saw or heard it.
Proud of Brett. He played a great game. Same with our Wideouts. And even our RBs. And we did this with third string Oline playing.
Our D is in turmoil and I don't know why anyone expects a significant change week to week.
Here's to hoping for our guys to win out! They still deserve to be supported.

You're joking, right? No one will remember this game 3 days from now, let alone 30 years. We put up huge numbers against a winless team in front of an empty stadium in a game that meant nothing. And for the last time, I'm sick of you sunshine pumpers accusing us "Debbie downers" of not supporting the team. I go to the games, give to the CJC, and cheer just like the rest of you. The fact that I can't get excited about a win like this doesn't mean I don't support the players.

Another great post - these are the kind of folks I'd gladly share a meal and a drink with...not to mention a beloved Cowboys game with.

Today, Garrett Zans ran in the NCAA cross country nationals. It was his last race as a Wyoming Cowboy. He finished 65th out of over 250 of the best runners in the country. When he looks back on his career, what do you think he will remember? Competing in a national championship or winning some little 5k with subpar completion?

My point is statistics are meaningless. It's how a team or an individual performs against great competition in a meaningful event that matters. I will remember Bret's great game against Nebraska in front of 92k fans far longer than what he did today. I can understand feeling relief that we didn't lose today. But was it memorable in any way? No.

Posting GOLD.

Particularly your thoughts on Brett's performance in Lincoln being well more memorable than today's.

I'm not sure if your attacking me or agreeing with me. Personally, I hate filet mignon.
No attack just a statement

Well, I'm not sure where you stand. Since this is a message board, I'll let you know where I stand.

We beat Hawaii! Great! The last time we beat them I had just graduated high school.

We scored alot of points against them. Our Seniors got a win at home. Others got a few records. Thats great! They bust their ass and they deserve it. College football is a hard hitting game and it wears on your body quickly.

That said, we should have won all of our games starting with CSU. The fact that we lost to CSU has obviously resonated throughout the fan base. Many people forgot what losing to them felt like - and our head coach probably has never felt this kind of heat before.

We need a defense to keep us in the games. Thats not going to happen this year. HCDC just hasn't put the emphasis on this that he should have. Hell, he may regret that now.

What we need to do now is get through the last game of the season. I hope we win, but I think we lose by 21. I hope some big wigs at UW get involved and find us a solid, competant coaching team. A brutal defense. A fast scoring offense.

Thats where I stand. Enjoy the win. Its better than a terrible loss!

What I am hoping is that Wyo wins against USU, and beats a Pac12 team in a bowl game, even if it is Oregon State.
Then, I hope the new guy (Bill Young?) is our new D-coordinator and some how magically fixes the D.

If it happens to work out like that, I'd be happy as hell. To top it off, we'd go undefeated in 2k14.

Got some quick news fer ya there, BP.

Under your scenario?

Say hello to Year 6 of the Dave Christensen era.

All I said was I am hoping.
Do I think it is possible? Nope.
Do I think our defense can magically be fixed? Fuck no.

And Dino, win or lose at USU, odds are we have a year 6 of DC anyways.

Could you imagine us playing Washington st in a bowl game and getting throughly embarrassed with them putting 70 on us, I have can't.

I will, so will others. I remember another game like this in 1990; a scoring orgy against SDSU. The cowboys prevailed 52-51. At the time, SDSU set a record for the most points scored by a losing team. Their QB was Dan McGwire, brother of baseball star Mark McGwire. That game didn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't very well attended either. It was however a thoroughly entertaining game though, one of my favorites ever. This one reminds me of that game.

That is the ultimate goal for you isn't it. Get rid of Dave no matter how many losses it takes. Personally I want him gone too. I don't want Heath Shroyer the football edition to replace him which is exactly what I think will happen if he is fired this year, but whatever.

I don't know what you are worried about, we could never beat USU, just like Arizona could never beat Oregon, or Georgia Southern could never beat Florida, especially not at the swamp. Those kind of things just don't happen, except of course when they do.

No, they can make it look like filet mignon, but when you bite into it, you find out what it really is.

I think it's funny the ultimate goal of people on here it to just fire DC. Even if we go to a bowl, it's still about firing him.
If we win this last game that would be 3 bowls in a 5 year period. Who was the last uw coach to do that?

No one is doing cartwheels. We know we have basically no defense and that the local peewee team could substitute and we wouldn't notice the difference.

However, why can't we be supportive of the seniors and other players for winning their last home game of the season? Everyone on here agrees that we need a change at the HC position, but being angry for the team for winning is not what a fan is.

I think you're confusing the ultimate goal with a logical step.

I love how the Beaver keeps brings up bowl eligibility. Well Dimel was eligible 3 times in 3 years I believe, and Tiller 3 times in 6 years. Its doesnt have the same significance as it did in the past, 6-6 ,7-6 teams in a bowl game is a joke but hey everybody gets a medal.

When I asked who the last coach to become bowl eligible 3 times in 5 years, I was actually asking, not just talking shit. Like you do,all the time.
But Tiller and Dimel did it, but that was what, 15 years ago?
My point is that we are 1 win away from hitting that milestone or benchmark.
Now if we lose, then fire DC.

Why would any of us want this team to go to a bowl? Haven't we been trounced on national TV enough this season?
