For those doing cartwheels tonight...

This season has sucked, but today's game was a thriller. People will remember this 59-56 scoreline. How often do you see such high-scoring games like that? And a very close one at that. Wyoming happened to come out on top.

I get it. Everyone wants Wyoming to contend with the big boys.....but reality is, if you don't enjoy these moments, you're doomed to be a bitter Wyoming fan for good. Cause...news flash: Wyoming will never be the Alabama of the west. Never. I'm not saying accept being 5-6, I'm just saying that you will ALWAYS be able to pick apart Wyoming's successes if you hold them to a really high standard. Nothing will ever be enough, and at that point.....why even be a fan? That's just depressing. Let BP and the others have this win. Obviously a win in Logan is unlikely, and I guarantee tomorrow's Vegas spread will suggest just that......with that in mind, celebrate the hell out of this win. It might be Wyoming's last of the season.....and as we all know, the off-season always feels 10x longer than the actual season.

Have fun. Wins a win. And that was a really fun win. I bet Hawaii wishes they had that win.

Good grief Dino, no one doing cartwheels. We all realize we're not world beaters, but we did win a game a lot of you naysayers were predicting we would lose. Nothing wrong with feeling good about that.

I liked it better when you just didn't show up after victories.

We were actually a 5 1/2 pt favorite. I think Doc holliday's point (one I agree with) is this game should serve as even more proof that we need a change. We should be embarrassed to give up 56 points to an 0-11 team that routinely gets pulverized every time they leave the island. Instead, we've got posters who think we've got a chance next week. Anyone who thinks we have a chance next week is seriously deluded or hasn't been paying attention. We have NO chance next week. First Burman has to go and then a new AD can select the next coach. The BOT has to dust off the bankroll and make every effort to get Bobby Petrino or Franchione down at Texas State.

Lastly, I don't recall anyone on this board predicting a loss this week. The problem with feeling good about a win like this is it just lowers the bar again. But you don't see it, I guess.

Your last paragraph reads like a well written song that sums up a story...nice work.

A couple things here...Hawaii gets pulverized every time they leave the island?
They've lost by 19, 22, 2, 37, 14, and now 3.
I wouldn't call that getting pulverized every time they leave the island, hell this wasn't even their closest game!

And we have NO chance? Tell that to the players, the coaches, and the AD. They might just forfeit the game just because you know we have NO chance.

It's unlikely yes, but there is a reason they play the game.
The game isn't won on paper.

And yes, multiple people on this board thought we would lose.

I don't see it as lowering the bar by any means. We won -- yay! We racked up some stats - yay! That stuff is great for the players.

Everyone here knows we have some serious problems in our football department right now. Offense wins games, defense wins championships - the old saying goes. We have an intermittent offense and a non-existant defense.

It has been 5 years - our defense should be borderline brutal again. Our offense has some shining moments. It sputters from time to time. But in no way should we be happy with this season. Take the stats, and anything else cool about it, and enjoy it! Its all we got this year.

You guys are right and Doc is wrong. This was a great win over a real good team. Hell the D came out to play and the fans showed up, it was awesome. Things are looking up in Laramie.

I'm not saying it was a great game. It was horrid on D! But it was a fun and entertaining game to watch. And a lot of seniors put in some big numbers. Be happy for them.
Not only that but we put our record offensive numbers. And 30 years from now you can say you saw or heard it.
Proud of Brett. He played a great game. Same with our Wideouts. And even our RBs. And we did this with third string Oline playing.
Our D is in turmoil and I don't know why anyone expects a significant change week to week.
Here's to hoping for our guys to win out! They still deserve to be supported.

Who wants to keep DC because of this win? I have yet to see a single post to that effect. No one is feeling THAT good about this win, but as many have said, it's better than a loss.

As for who was predicting a loss, have a gander at the guess the score thread from last week.

Hawaii 28, Wyoming 21.

Hawaii 28 - UW 14 (only if we get our O rolling though)!

Statistically, this one is a toss up.

Hawaii's passing offense is ranked #28 in the nation, the Pokes #33
Hawaii's rushing offense is ranked #115, the Pokes #38
Hawaii's rushing defense is ranked #98, the Pokes #115
Hawaii's passing defense, yards allowed, is ranked #111, the Pokes #97
Hawaii's total defense is ranked #109, the Pokes #112
Hawaii's total offense is ranked #88, the Pokes #25

These are two bad teams. Hawaii played Fresno State close, CSU close, SJSU close (all in Aloha Stadium).....Wyoming got blown out by FSU and CSU (both of these at home), and lost a close one to SJSU on the road.

I hate to say it, but I think Wyoming has already mentally left for the holidays. Too many kids with their heads down. Hawaii gets their first win of the year on Saturday.

Hawaii - 24 Wyoming 13

Hawaii 31 - Wyoming 24

I didn't make a post in that thread, but I thought we would lose this one too. I had to many memories of giving Locksly's Lobos their only win and UNLV their only FBS win.

Kansas, I might of agreed with you that it was a fun game to watch but unfortunately the stream was down or unwatchable for the entire game.

You're joking, right? No one will remember this game 3 days from now, let alone 30 years. We put up huge numbers against a winless team in front of an empty stadium in a game that meant nothing. And for the last time, I'm sick of you sunshine pumpers accusing us "Debbie downers" of not supporting the team. I go to the games, give to the CJC, and cheer just like the rest of you. The fact that I can't get excited about a win like this doesn't mean I don't support the players.

We need someone who can recruit colder states with kids from smaller communities. We need someone that understands like Lloyd Eaton did that you don't recruit south of this line if you expect the recruit to stay.

Problem is that's not where the majority of talent is. There's only so much FBS talent you can pull out of the Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Idaho, etc. that the Big 10 schools don't already snatch up.

I will remember this game. I'll remember how pissed i was. I'll remember how high the score was and how many records we broke today. Ask me in 30 years - I'll tell you it was the first home game I missed in 6 years.

I don't blame you for not being excited though. It was a win - and we haven't had one in a while. I'm enjoying it. I really hope we turn the football program around in the offseason (that can mean everything from getting a good defensive staff and an improved offensive staff in to cleaning the place out and starting fresh).

Call me a sunshine pumper all you want, but at least we didn't lose to an 0-10 team. That would be frosting on the unbearable cake that is this season.

True - there is only so much we can recruit in other places too that the other leagues don't grab either. The best thing Wyoming can do is to find someone who is football savy, can put together a strong coaching staff, recruit the right players, and make it happen.

Some of these players and coaches you'll have to develop. At the end of the day, its a tough job, and hopefully we find someone willing to put in the effort to make things happen. Otherwise, it will be more of the same.

Some of our Sunshine Pumpers should get jobs working PR for Obamacare, they can fucking spin anything.

Today, Garrett Zans ran in the NCAA cross country nationals. It was his last race as a Wyoming Cowboy. He finished 65th out of over 250 of the best runners in the country. When he looks back on his career, what do you think he will remember? Competing in a national championship or winning some little 5k with subpar competion?

My point is statistics are meaningless. It's how a team or an individual performs against great competition in a meaningful event that matters. I will remember Bret's great game against Nebraska in front of 92k fans far longer than what he did today. I can understand feeling relief that we didn't lose today. But was it memorable in any way? No.
