For the record I want Justin Wilcox

Oregon folks love him and mostly want him back in the fold there ASAP. He's young, bright, and has a good track record as a DC for some big programs. I am afraid he may be beyond our grasp but I would love it if we could persuade him to come cut his HC teeth here

He would be another great one in my mind, top 3 for me in any order are Bohl, Wilcox, Mason from Stanford. Like BP said earlier, he would also bring in more recruiting ties to the PNW, which I think we need to get people from that kind of climate more than from TX and that...more used to the winter climate here

+1.

I really want a defensive coach. I feel that we have plenty of offensive weapons right now that can work in any system.

I want the defensive coach because we have some talent on the defense, they just need to be coached correctly.

If we have a good defensive coach, and enough offensive talent left over, we can attract better D players, along with enough offensive talent that will see the numbers we put up that will want to play here.

In the end though, I just want wins.

Our skill positions on offense are alright. But the o-line tends to have issues. Even against 3 or 4 guys rushing and its clear how many are rushing and from where, they still get into the backfield more often than not. So, hard to really blame Brett for getting happy feet on most snaps.

For the record, it would be better to find someone now so as soon as their season is over they can get some recruiting done here in my mind

I like Wilcox. But I'm telling you Kalani Freakin Sitake, d coord from Utah. Recruiting machine. Especially Polynesians. The dude isintense and a winner .

Rushing a hire at this level is a recipe for disaster. You need to get your eyes off the road in front of you and up onto the horizon. Success next season might be a huge step, but making it a priority in rushing a hire would most likely be disastrous in the long term.

We also need to be prepared for the very real possibility that whomever we look at, we'll be competing with BSU for their services.

Unlike the last change in leadership, the cupboards are far from empty. We need to take the time to go find out who we can attract, who might want to coach at Wyoming, etc. We have time. In addition, the administration needs to do some soul searching and find some extra cash to get us in some solid assistant and position coaches.

We need an activist AD willing to lobby our legislators at a professional level. That might mean carving some money to pay a lobbyist (for a significant ROI) out of the athletic budget.

Sitake from USU is the REAL deal-hope he applies-connections with Polynesian football community would fix our line problem in a hurry
Jim Tressell-would be amazing

It'll be a cold day in hell before a BYU alum coaches this team.

Agreed wholeheartedly! I would rather us go winless than see that! There is only so much any Poke fan can tolerate...

I dont care what school they went to. I want to win games. Hiring some clown and finishing 5-7 every year is much worse than hiring a BYU alum. I hate BYU, but I like my team more than I hate them. Sitake is an awesome coach and I would welcome him to the Pokes. With his poly piepline of recruting and such? Time to look past the BYU thing. He could turn this ship around in no time.

+1,000,000. Who cares where they graduated from. I'd be ok with a BYU HC with a CSU OC and Nebraska DC if it meant we won games and consistently were vying for conference championships. Winning is all that matters

Coach Sarkeiian just accepted the USC job, not sure what effect that has for our potential pursuit of Wilcox.
