So tell me fellow Pokes fanatics...with the recent announcement in FT. Collins, with CSU clearly planning an upgrade with a new stadium/facilities, and with a CSU AD expressing exciting vision for the future of CSU football...

My question is: Will this news have a direct impact on the WYO football program -- and will the CSU plans compel WYO to seek out unique and doable projects of their own, making a renewed commitment and efforts towards bolstering the WYO football program that could include a number of different/positive elements over the next few years?

This question is posed by a concerned and rabid supporter of WYO football...a man who would like to see his son, Karson, not only playing QB for the Pokes come the 2024 season, but also playing with and for a program annually ranked in the AP top 25 :D

Thoughts...my friends?

I hope it does open Wyomings eyes and get them to start planning projects. I know there was an article awhile back and Burman said they are looking to replace the turf at the war as the warranty on the field was coming to an end. Cool, replace it but dont let that be the only thing. As for me, my personal opinion is that the war should never be torn down, but added on to. I do not think a dome is the answer, so throw that out. But i do think we should tear out the south end scoreboard...the tiny old one with the broadcast tower, which i think is the south end, and build a one level bottom teir of seating (not double stacked) to start off with, with possible future expantion to a upper teir if we ever get the attendance. They put up bleachers for big games so why not just make it permanent and maybe...just maybe put another scoreboard up above the seating. Second, replace the old press box with a newer bigger press box and maybe also add some more club seating up there with it. Right there are basic imporvements that doesnt require a new stadium which we dont need. Also im not sure how they could do it with the way its setup, but tear out all of the bleachers and put in actual seating. Now i know the student section likes to stand the whole game and i always "stand" on that side of the stadium anyway but it would be nice to have a nice seat to chill in at halftime and also with a cupholder lol. There is a ton more i could add but those are the basics i would like to see.

I would love to see them enclose one of the end zones. However, it's a difficult sell with the attendance numbers we are chalking up.

I would prefer to see stadium chairs and a new scoreboard/jumbotron. Really anything that improves gametime atmosphere should be a focus at this point.

If we can get back to consistent wins, then the inevitable discussions about expanding would need to be looked at.

add a full sound system to that score board (instead of a couple of big speakers at one endzone) and i think we're of the right track

Maybe you should take the time to read the other threads exactly on topic. (or should we not expect that out of such an avid supporter of the Cowboys football program?)

BTW, GTS (="Guess The Score"}...we didnt need your own topic on that one too.

My guess..you generally look at the other topics and start your own topic to draw more attention to yourself. Please though, keep telling us how great you are and how no other person brings up the important issues to disucss.

I would say enclose the south endzone but use the lower level for concessions, apparel, etc. Perhaps a bar, god forbid. But glass fronts all along the front facing the field. Put second level seating above this area. I think that would be the best utilization of a south enclosure.

I hope so, but I doubt it. Here's why: This thing probably isn't going to get done.

Our administration and legislature will watch carefully what happens in the Fart. But if the team doesn't turn things around quickly, it's going to be very difficult for the graham-cracker to raise the necessary funds privately. And he'll never get approval for money from the eweniversity or the state legislature in the current political climate. Without that, I think it won't get done. And it will hang like an albatross around his neck.

But I hope that it will cause those in power around Wyoming to take a good, long, hard look at where we want to be in ten years. We've made good strides already, but we've got a long way to go.

GO POKES!

What the university REALLY needs to do is figure out ways to help organize getting people from all around the state to games. Put 25k+ in the seats on a regular basis, and maybe there will be a bit more of a justification to keep upgrading the facilities.

Winning obviously helps draw people, but there needs to be more done to just improve the game day experience in general - including making sure the stadium isn't half empty.

I've given your comments a little thought.

My answer is to dismiss your theories completely because you're clearly an idiot.

My other answer however is: Indeed, I will continue to remind you of my greatness.

Lastly I am interested in your thoughts on what the final score might be this Saturday...please tell me.

"Clearly." Nothing adds more validity to an argument than to use the simple term "clearly" without any factual presentation/basis. It's no wonder other sports commentators value your opinion so much (and yes that is TIC).

I addressed my final score long before your post and it currently stands in another topic. Because you actually really don't care and because you do not take the time to give respect to other topic starters and other posters (as you are self consumed), I'll refrain.

Oh please shut up and go away you pathetic minion...

It's not my fault that your messiah got his ass kicked last night...deal with it.

This is the type of response I expected. You really do have the maturity of a 10 year old at best.

Although...I have no idea WTF you are even talking about?
- As a so called "sports personality," I would assume that you would be referring to the exciting finishes in baseball. Actually, I have always appreciated the way Billy Beane has run the A's organization.
- Perhaps you are going way off topic again and discussing the Presidential debates? In which, you would be so wrong in what I am assuming to be your evaluation of my political leanings.

Why is it whenever several other programs start making changes to their programs facilities, we need to talk about following suit? What is it that people think we are so far behind as a program that we need to continually make upgrades?
Could it be that maybe CSU is trying to catch up to Wyoming right now?
Tell me, does Renovating the current football stadium, Adding a new top quality turf, Building the Rochelle Center with new weight lifting unit and locker rooms, Building a new indoor practice facility and Adding the Wildcatter Suites to the stadium, does that not bolster confidence in spending money for the betterment of the program? No, it's not a brand new football stadium. We do not need a brand new football stadium. Something can actually remain traditional. Besides a football stadium will not help win games.
A lot of the things I read from fans on here is so sad and ridiculous. Most times it reminds me of Obamas plan to fiscally help our debt. "Lets spend MORE to get out of debt." So we spend BILLIONS of dollars and now...Amazing, we are even more in debt. Common sense people, what was going to happen?
So far the, "We need to spend more for recruiting, spend more on better coaches, better facilities, facility upgrades, new stadiums, domes, etc., etc., etc.," It sounds so eerily similar to Obama. Where do you want to get this money. I mean, it ALL adds up. More money for recruiting, more money for coaching, a NEW Stadium. Tell me, do you finally want state taxes in Wyo? Because I guarantee the state will not allow millions of dollars for sports programs without something coming in. Politics...It's how it works, it's the reason why Wyo is one of the richest states in the union. How about ticket sales that jump up another 15.00 or more per ticket? Are you going to donate several thousand a year? All the other bigger schools do all this. You know what I would see if this actually happend... Off with the HEAD of whichever athletic director allowed ticket sales to go up? That is all we would hear about because he would need the money to pay off our new coaching staff (that everyone wanted), he would need the money to better the recruiting trail (everyone wanted), he would need money for a multi-million (close to billion) dollar new stadium (the majority seems to have wanted).
So where does it end? Complaints either way. Because some Wyo fans have trouble seeing that you work your way out of "right now" not work your way from "a dream" (program of the 50's-60's) to a "new dream"
We have been on the right track since 03. We tanked as a program in 2000, not only on the field but, we really had nothing to show for our program. Each year has brought success in some way. Yes, our record does go up and down right now, but that has nothing to do with facilities, it has everything to do with consistency. We've been building back up, one day at a time taking each step from "right now". It has been shaky, but we continually see success. Then it gets shaky and we want a NEW coaching staff, or better recruiting or better facilities. We have a brand new D-coord who has inherited a terrible D to begin with. None of the players on that field are his recruits, but, we are ready to get rid of him after 4 games. Why? Because we struggle? We were going to struggle without him being brought in anyway.
People need to remember a key word: Patience. It sucks to be patient, People chomp at the bit because they want to see results NOW and decisions are made out of haste, even if something is getting better, we lose focus. We lose our patience to much. We need to stop. Otherwise, this inconsistency is what will cause us to continue to be mediocre. No more excuses.
What is truly best for the program? Think about that with common sense in mind.

Now that, is a thought provoking and interesting response...I too love our stadium and its setting.

Thank you for the thoughts...

I agree with this

the reason that CSewe needs to relocate and build new is because hughes stadium is in such a shitty location

agreed

what we really need is better/more vigorous attendance.....ie: folks that don't just sit on their hands all game

a rabid fanbase that would make the gameday experience more exciting for the player would be the best "upgrade" we could do as far as recruiting is concerned

Nice. Following your similar pattern, I fully expect you to next ask the mods to delete this thread so that no outside party can see how it is you act.

Or maybe you will send wyosteelerfan a profanity laced, disgusting personal message? I got a few of those on my first interactions with Dino on here.

I stand by everything I wrote/write, I only ask you to distribute my illuminating thoughts to as many media outlets as is possible.
