Football vs. Basketball Dialogue

I completely disagree with those that think we should "abandon" or de-emphasize the football program, and put all of our eggs in the basketball basket. That is so very Tom Burman like. And frankly, what he would prefer (and always has) anyway. Hell of a lot less work for an AD & his / her staff if you just have basketball to worry about.

+1 Never EVER abandon football nor basketball.

What we need to abandon is this DUMB ASSED idea of "we are who we are."

Gonna have to abandon the AD (AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF) to make that happen! :tickedoff:

Sadly...and I got a far better shot of dating a busty Playboy Playmate than that happening.

I'm not saying abandon football, just put more emphasis on hoops.
That's fine for students and Laramites, but you'll lose a lot of alumni like me that way. I'm not going to make the effort in time and money it costs to attend basketball games up there consistently like I do now for football.

You might see more wins.

I love Saturdays in fall, especially in Laramie.
But it might make sense to only go to 1 or 2 games in fall, then in winter come to the AA to see some top teams that we play in MWC play every year.

I'm not telling you how to be a fan but if I had "X" amount of dollars to spend on Wyo athletics, I would rather spend it on football and basketball instead of just football where you know we are going to lose half the time.

Maybe if the hoops team takes a big step forward this season and makes the Big Dance you might come to more hoops games next season?

If I see more wins, it'll be on the television screen. I just told you that I'm not about to haul the family on icy roads, make the effort in time and money (you know how much two decent hotel rooms in Laramie are on a game day?) for a basketball game. It's a different animal. Football is an event, with the marching bands, tailgating, all of it. It engages alumni and their families. Basketball doesn't do that.

Do you go to any b-ball games in Laramie ever?
About ten to 12 per season until I moved away two years ago. That's about 100 since I graduated. Does that pass the purity fucking test for you, jackass?

Holy fuck dude chill out, I was just wondering, that's why I asked.
From the brief conversation it seemed like you never went to any games so I was just wondering.
God damn dude what crawled up your ass?

My God dude, I didn't know if you were a football only type of guy or what, you need to calm the fuck down over a simple question, jack ass.

How did I call him out?
He said he doesn't want to come to Laramie for b-ball games so I asked if he ever goes to any in Laramie.

Am I not allowed to ask questions?

Calling him out would have been saying something like "Maybe you should be a fan and go to a game". All I did was ask a fucking question.

Beaver didn't call him out at all, he just asked if he would support a winning basketball team instead of supporting a shitty football team. I don't think his question was off base and it was a major overreaction to call him a jackass, he didn't attack him in any way and the attack was not warranted so lay off Cuttslam.

This school has always been a basketball school, football has had it's teams that had great success sure, but overall it is not a very good program. Basketball we have history that actually rivals a lot of schools out there, and is damn near the top in the Mountain West. We are not suggesting to abandon football, or prioritize it, we all want a winning football program. The thing is we should be throwing Shyatt all the support that he needs in order to build a powerhouse basketball program.

+1

Wasn't calling him out at all, just asking if he goes to games in Laramie.
