Football Players in a Dunk Contest.

No doubt the receiving corps is a good one, I believe he will add depth to an injury prone group of wide outs. He will only be a redshirt freshman so he has a few years ahead of him to prove himself! Gotta root for a walk on though don't ya? Especially a Wyoming kid born and bred!

^^ The kid is an athlete no doubt and will play a little this year I think and will continue you to get better, he sounds like he is developing. My question is why are you so obsessed w a redshirt WR haha

Lol no way?
Haha make him get a hair cut so that he can see that pass from B-Smith! :D

Yeah it is True Tanner is my son and he is one of the hardest working kids you will ever see. He works with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder just to prove he is worthy of a scholarship. I am confident that he will get there and prove to everyone he can play at this level. He has established great relationships with many of the players and seems to be fitting in real well.

FAact is I believe Brett is coming home to go water skiing with us this summer.........lets hope he doesn't break his arm while I am jerking him around the lake! I would have the whole state pissed at me! LOL

Lol jarhead erase that comment now, just in case!

It would be better for you if over the summer we are saying "Some yahoo (probably some CSU fan out to get us) was taking Brett Smith water skiing and went too fast for him and ended up breaking his arm!"
Rather than...."JARHEAD WTF!"

Right on. Best of luck to your boy during his Cowboy career. I'll be cheering extra loud for him.

Just a quick question. You're not going to get all pissy when some YOOHOO starts bashing your son on here for playing like crap are you? Because we seem to have about 5 or 6 on here that feel the need to always bash players. Kind of a forewarning.

Happy to see your kid walking on. I remember him a few years back when our high schools scrimmaged. He was an underclassmen, but played well.

Also, I'm not one of them, I usually argue tell I'm blue in the face with those though.

Well the easiest answer to that is no I won't get "all pissy" But the logical answer is that I would probably get a little torn up about it! However because I have coached football, basketball, and track for 18 years I understand that there are those out there that feel this innate pressure to voice their opinion. If Tanner plays like crap believe me I will be the first to point it out. He was raised in a house that didn't tolerate any excuses.......he understands that he is on a bigger stage now than in high school. With that, comes enormous responsibility to play well. However lets point out that he needs to get on the football field before we can begin to evaluate his level of play! :-) He is happy to be a part of the Cowboy Nation, and his redshirt year has been one of the most rewarding times of his athletic career. It has also been one of the most challenging. Trust me when I say he knows he has to earn everything that he gets! That being said I just want to point out that in the seven on seven yesterday he "Ran with the 2's" and was pretty damn happy about the opportunity to do so! LOL Go Pokes!

Ha Ha I will put three life jackets on him, wrap him in bubble wrap, and only let him ride the tube! Truth be known Brett doesn't really worry about getting hurt. He fell ice skating the other night and sprained his wrist! He is not one to live in a bubble! But we know that by the way he plays don't we? He plays the game with an enormous amount of emotion and energy!

Jarhead....we now all expect the inside scoop on Poke football from here on out, you know that right? Haha...I'm sure your a very proud father. We, fans, are very passionate about our team, as I am sure your family is, please excuse our passion-driven bitching, moaning, complaining, etc that will spew from mouths these next few years as the Pokes continue grow as a team and program.

Jarhead just curious as to what your son thinks of the coaches we have and DC in particular? Haha need to start asking for inside scoops sooner rather than later.

Nothing but good things I'd imagine. If he has negative feelings I would think neither Jarhead or his son would say so in this forum. This site isn't magically blocked from people associated with the athletics program.

Well did you see that Tanner Simpson, a walk on WR from Lander, Wyo. won the dunk contest? He and Dee White had to have a dunk off but the local boy won. #Wyofootballwindmill video will emerge soon I am sure!

Growing up in Lander it is nice to have some home town boys playing for the Pokes. Don't think there has been a Lander boy on the roster since Aaron Elling.

Good luck Tanner and Go Pokes!!

Zeb Whipp (Lander) was a LB that played for three years. He was a good player with potential but suffered a broken back going into his senior year.

It would have been a lot better if you hadn't said which player was your boy, so you could dish the dirt

The thought crossed my mind....But I am above that. His actions will speak for themselves. ;-)
