Football Gods

Ever since 2004, the football gods have not smiled on us. Given the events of Joes era, one could even go so far as to say the football gods frowned upon the Brown and Gold Cowboys. Has fate, dare even the football gods, taken a shining to the ALL POWERFUL UW COWBOYS?

Air Force is lacking at the middle linebacker position. Very interesting.

Can the Football Gods make the refs call chop-blocking on Air Force's line for once?

That would help more than anything.

I am willing to bet that DC will be all over the officials starting this week and again at the pre-game meeting. DC seems to get a little more respect than Joe did. Hopefully that will carry over and he will get the officials to make the calls.

We have been through all this before and I am with both of you - it is dirty football and it is intended to injure the opposing players. However legally it is called a cut block and that is legal. A chop block is when one man hits the opposing player low and another hits at the knee level or lower.

A cut block is one man hitting the defensive player below the waist. A chop block is one player hitting the defensive player below the waist while he is engaged with another blocker.

Cut blocks are an effective way to block a defensive lineman that is bigger, stronger, and overall better than the offensive lineman. Chop blocking is dirty, and Air Force uses it extensively. They'll have the center hold up the defensive tackle while the back side guard throws himself at the d tackle's knees.
