First Wyo Cowboy football game?

I am bringing my 12 yr old step-son and his friend to their first Wyoming Cowboy football game on Saturday and it got me thinking, when was your first game?

Mine was Oct 16, 1965 vs UTEP. Don't remember a thing cause I was 1 month old to the date but I was there 45 yrs ago on a beautiful 58 degree day or so I have been told! And the pokes won!

1993, I believe. Border War vs. CSU.. Pokes got beat up on. FREEZING cold outside, fresh snow in Laramie.. got the commemorative coin and ticket (which I still have).. year we played the Copper Bowl vs. K-State. Went w/ a whole bunch of family. Good time, I was hooked.

mine was Sept 1, 2007...

Virginia at Wyoming!

how awesome of a feeling it was!

it was my first year on campus coming from Bethlehem, Pa!

my first one.. I don't remember cause i was a baby but i remember watching them on TV back in 03 when we beat CSU after that i wanted to go to a game so bad but money held me back untill the 07 Season when i went to the TCU game in Laramie, That game we won 24-21 cause the wind blew the ball into the uprights and it bounced off and we won it was a amazing feeling then of course last years border war was awesome but it didnt get close to the TCU game.

I was an infant, so I have no idea. Thanks to my folks, though, I've only missed 7 home games since I was 3 years old! (The last one was homecoming last year. WyDOT felt my wrath for not having the roads open.)

My first game in person was Sept 6 1997 vs Iowa State. We won 56-10, and I was a freshman in the band thinking "this is awesome!"

I'd watched several games on TV once I decided to go to UW, but the one I remember most is the last game in 1996 vs BYU. Of course, that's the one with the intentional safety that probably got Tiller run out on a rail, but I digress.

The game I remember most from the 1997 season was the CU game in Boulder. The band got to go (we still traveled with the team quite a bit back then - we went to AF that year as well), and they parked us up in the top level next to the press box. We could barely see the game! But I'll never forget that one-point loss after being up 19-10 with about four minutes left, watching that kickoff return go the length of the field, and then the last second field goal to win it. We were excited as hell at the four minute mark, and not so much after the game. Long trip back to Laramie that day, after a game we should have won.

Good memories, and those cemented me as a Wyoming fan for life!

GO POKES!

i was born on friday sept 13 yes friday the 13th.. the dr. wanted me to be delivered so he could make it to the game the next day... on september 21st i attended my first game 8 days old and we beat texas tech

good question! Not sure, I will have to do some research. I think it was around 1984 or 85. It was FREEZING cold, we sat in snowsuits in sleeping bags to stay warm. I am pretty sure we sat in the west bleachers. Went with my dad, stepmom, step brother, step sister, and sister. I think we lost.

I do remember spinning out going over a bridge on the super slick highway on the way home. We did a full 360, and were thankful no oncoming traffic was coming. I will ask around, but I may never know which game it actually was.

If my son doesn't decide to pop out earlier, my wife will be induced on September 13 :)

aTm about ten years ago (don't remember which year exactly) with my best friends family

pokes BARELY lost by 2

strike all that

aTm 2001 wyoming lost by 8but it was an exciting and close match

Wyoming vs. Tennesee 2002 in the Titans coliseum. It was actually a home game for Wyoming! Tennessee paid millions to not come up to Laramie and play. Although the Cowboys lost I loved their toughness and I hated the vols, so it was an easy decision.

That would have been Long Beach State in 1982. A beautiful fall afternoon that I'm sure I had that "Wyo tan" afterwards....

I was there, too! Gotta love the opportunities afforded to you when you're in the band :thumb:

The Vols fans were pissing me off by halftime, though. Everyone that walked by had the same thing to say. "Do y'all know rocky top?"

Also a great UW memory, and I must agree with the Vols fans asking about rocky top. As the band's equipment b!#*h for that game (I'd stopped marching by then), I was party to that as well. Fun trip though!

GO POKES!

Don't quite remember as it was when I was 5 years old or so and I went with my friend. Old enough to remember going to the game, but not quite old enough to remember who we played. But it would have been just before the WAC 16.
