First Down Mother Effer Cheer...

Not that I agree with it (I don't), and there is a time & a place for some of that type of stuff...but I have to wonder if something similar doesn't happen almost everywhere.

When I was at Ceeew a couple weeks ago...

There was the "Hey - GO Buffs" cheer (repeated 3 times) followed by the entire student section yelling "eff 'em up eff 'em up go c u." It probably happened 10 or 12 times during the game. And it seemed to be encouraged!

My point...who is really the "responsible" party / person to stop stuff like this / that? The AD? The HC? The fans themselves? Hmmmm...

I wish they could get REAL chants going instead. If you're not going to have a majority of the crowd participating (which they won't with profane chants), it's all rather pointless.

The only way to kill it is to do one of two things:

1) completely ignore it. It'll eventually go away once the students realize how silly it makes them sound
2) remove everyone who participates. I don't agree with this approach, but I have a feeling it's the way the AD will go eventually.

I saw #2 happen with the "FU BYU/CSU" at bball games a few years ago, and it didn't stop anything for very long. I think eventually it will go away, and until then, having DC call students out is probably thebest way to go.

GO POKES!

Guys, this is a football game we are talking about. Essentially, football is sanctioned violence. People getting upset about a word is border line laughable.

There are 3 places that class should never be expected...bars, prisons, and sporting events.

I disagree. The best way to go would have been for no one to say anything and just have the announcer quit starting the chant. Think about it, if someone tells an 18 year old kid not to do something they do exactly the opposite.

When did wyo become a bunch of political correct pussies. Let the kids have fun some of mY fondest memories was chanting fuck u byu. We are wyoming we are not mormon we are not in salt lake we are not in fuckin utah.We are the great state of wyoming Cowboys Coal Miners and drinkers. Pull ur head outta your vaginas and start having some fun.People need to stop getting upset about something that is so hilarious. On a side note they really need to stop letting the cops in the stands unless something serious is going on, they are getting a little bit ouy of control

Personally, I thought the cheer was dumb. Plus, a lot of old folks and little kids around that probably shouldn't be exposed. But apparently this is a problem other places. Joe Tiller posted on Twitter a little big ago that at the Purdue this weekend he said they did a "First Down.... BITCHES" chant.. to which he referred to as "disappointing."

Not sure how it's the least bit hilarious? But to each his own, I guess.
I think the real problem is a lack of real cheers that the entire stadium can and will participate in. They'll never get rid of the F U BYU chants, and last time I went to a Wyoming - BYU, even the old ladies from the retirement home chanted it along with the rest of us.

But yeah, I'm still not sure how it's all that funny, and I think it gets a little bit worn out after a while.

Honestly..... are we really worried about this? There is much better things to be talking about than what our student section does. I think most school's fanbases give their student section a free pass on any cheer they want to do. It's ok with me if the students say "MotherF*ckers" all game if they want and I'm gonna care less because I'm there to watch and study the game.
