Fire Tom Burman

Time for Burman to put an ultimatum on his performance and if we don't win a conference championship in the next 2-4 years, it's his turn to go bye bye....afterall status quo just doesn't fly here anymore or does it since we are so close to Coors Field and the Rockies shit show!!!

If having Bohl around insulated Burman from criticism...this Sawfull episode will end him. If this season goes about like I think it will, Burman has to fire him. Maybe a good athletic director is not really about hiring good coaches, it's more about firing bad ones.

Basically, the lack of accountability by the BOT and the legislature we have two long term contracts and it's impossible to get out of them, you could see these people (Burman and Sawvell) stop showing up to work or doing very little and just collecting these big guaranteed contracts. I warned about this.

From "The Sun Also Rises" by Earnest Hemingway:

Question: "How did you go bankrupt?"

Answer: "Two ways, gradually then suddenly."

In this case it's not a financial bankruptcy, but a competitive one. UW's athletic department has been gradually getting worse for the last 18 years. We may be at that "sudden" point of bankruptcy. Next year's watered down MWC might be the BK.

I might feel differently if we played consistent, decent ball...even if we lost. But two blocked punts for scores? Inexcusable interception in the red zone. Fumble in the red zone. Poor time management. Poor play calling. Lack of excitement on the team. Poor execution. A homecoming game with winter conditions and a lower altitude desert team.

I sometimes wonder if Sawvel or Burman read this blog. They should. This was a game that I darn near attended. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I flew in for the game (and got stuck in Denver).

I am embarrassed as is my 17 year old son who adopted the Cowboys as his team and has to defend 'why'. I am just so done with NIL, transfer portal, PAC 12 lawsuits, conference re-alignment, NCAA and NFL crap. It has become so unrewarding to watch any of it. Not even sure if Wyoming was 5-0 I would care that much. I am starting to feel like NCAA and NFL (and certainly NBA) are all part of a much larger problem in the U.S. No Interest in the Bunny Boofer half-time show on any level and it won't be aired in my house.

Anyway, that's all a rant. Like others have said, I used to plan my weekend around UW games. I'd avoid traveling during games and, if necessary, my wife would stream it on her phone. If I am around, I will watch (until they start getting beat). If not, who cares. Its almost like I am beginning to seriously dislike the Pokes because I feel so betrayed by the whole 'thing'.

I will check back if and when things change. Meanwhile, there's pheasant and grouse and a bored bird dog that need attention. And woodpecker holes that need fixing. This whole thing (sports) has just become a colossal waste of time and too much negativity.

Who advises TB on the contracts he negotiates and signs? For the life of me I can’t understand why you sign tge deals he has signed with the likes of Sawful. I get it if he is in demand and a proven coach. Jay was neither.

If Burman had any love or respect for Wyoming athletics he would resign immediately. He has to know how bad he has performed and driven down the programs in Laramie. He decimated the basketball program and the football program is well on its way to being in the same shape. Need an AD that has vision and will make smart decisions instead of always taking the easy route. Without new leadership we will find ourselves relegated to the Big Sky and we will fall to the bottom of that conference.

I don't follow the non-revenue sports much. Has Burman had a decent to good hire his entire tenure? I can't think of any that were home runs either. I liked Schyatt but was extremely disappointed when he bailed early so I don't think that's a home run.

I give Burman an F for the Shyatt hire. Why? Because Shyatt wanted the job when Burman gave it to Schroyer. Should have given to Shyatt and we would have saved the Heath experience, maybe still have fans in the stand. That single hire was the demise of the basketball program. Shyatt was hired to try to restore respectability, too little too late.
