FIRE Sawvell NOW!!!

I don't know that a revolving door helps any organization - in fact I know it won't. That said, at nearly every job I have been in, at around years 5-7, I start to feel stale, and I feel a need to move on. I believe that Governor Sullivan used to say that people are like potted plants and need to find a new, larger container to grow every 4 or so years. TB has been at UW a VERY long time. I know that a lot has been changing in college athletics - no doubt to make things more exciting - but how does HE not feel stale? I know he is a Laramie guy - but it seems that athletics are marked by those that are ascending (leaving for better jobs) and those that are descending (those that are in the same space or are fired). I don't get how he hasn't felt a need to move on beyond the local ties he has (which would actually make me MORE inclined to want to move up/on).
$550k salary and subsequent pension is my guess. I have no idea but I'll bet his state retirement pension is pretty good with that salary. From a 20 year perspective, I would imagine his best route is to sit tight.

Why he didn't jump earlier? Bear Claw is probably right.

It sounds like Sawful in his presser……….thinks “we’ve got to do better”. Punts…..we’ve got to do better. Offense,……we’ve got to do better.

Really!

Oh, and Kaden is doing great. Sound like last year with Svoboda?
Sawful’s new profound insight………..we’ve got to be better. Duh!!!!!

He has 550,000 reasons to stay. I don’t believe he will find comparable compensation anywhere else. He’s allowed to remain “stale” by the UW president and BOT.
NOBODY else is paying him $553k a year ANYWHERE. He tried to get the conference commissioner job a while ago to make it look like he was moving up, but they didn't even give him a sniff. If his pay were $250k per year he would still be here. He is the beneficiary of strong family ties to statewide University in remote town in a sparsely populated state that has a LOT of money that it puts toward its only University. If you remember when he got the job, he was just working at UW Foundation, his athletic administration career appeared to be over, but UW had soo little vision they gave him the job inspite of the fact that he'd done absolutely nothing at Portland State and mostly just wanted an easy job at UW.
