Finally..

I think 750 is in the top 3 or 4 in the MWC. Not too bad, we just need to put together a plan so we can increase this so compensation is never a reason not to get/keep our man. We have enough disadvantages as it is, lets make up for it with the best coaching we can get.

I think Burman did a great job with this hire!

Great hire and glad he is already puting his new staff into place. It will be interesting to see who is selected. I am glad he will hit the ground running. It will be a fun "meet and greet."

180k per year? laughable, but DC is the one who signed the contract! Sounds like we got a good deal. But geez, did this guy even negotiate? For being such a "hot commodity" you would think he could of gotten more.

That is in the middle of the conference for a salary. You are forgetting all the rest of the package. 750K is about right for our conference. We are paying him more than CSU, UNLV, or New Mexico is paying. But what is the buyout clause. Cause if he turns us around in 3 years he will be gone.

A lot of the big names have a similar setup, low salaries with lots of other easy revenue, and some performance incentives. I think Saban's salary at Alabama isn't much higher, but he will rake in about 3 million this year. Their contracts are on the USA today college football website for the world to see.

Take in to account that these salaries are from 2007, but go ahead and compare the $750,000 figure to the rest of the coaches in the MWC.

$750,000 is the third highest salary in the MWC (BYU's isn't listed, but I am assuming it is higher, Fairchild makes $700,000). Granted the base salary is the lowest, but the other money is still guaranteed to HCDC. Now go and break down the cost of living of each one of these schools and I bet you find that he is doing pretty well (just a quick check -- $750,000 in Laramie is equivalent to $812,000 in the FtC, and $935,000 in Provo).

Now if we can perform like the top 3...
