FAU - Florida Atlantic University. WHO??

Read this earlier today, and it always makes me wonder why our AD is not whoring out the naming rights to the War & AA. They whore out everything else, but why not this easy way to supplement your cashflow & budget!!!

Agree. Blue FCU sponsors the former Budweiser center in Loveland or wherever. It's in the millions. They are a Cheyenne-based company. Seems like a missed opportunity there.

I wonder what you would get for War naming rights?...Seems like a no brainer if you get that kind of coin.

Boise figured it out with Albertsons. Always quite mind boggling that we haven’t.

FNBO War Memorial Stadium
Jonah Bank War Memorial Stadium
Taco John’s War Memorial Stadium
EOG Resources War Memorial Stadium
Etc…

As far as I'm aware the University has a no sponsored buildings policy. That would have to change first?

The MPG was named for/after UniWyo FCU...so I don't think that is the case. And if it were the case, the AD needs to work on changing it. But that takes work, and we don't have a lot of that at UW. Less with less, right?

It is Jonah Field at War Memorial which was a sponsorship of sorts
Kind of. They paid for the turf basically...for a logo that means very little to most people in Wyoming (monetarily).

Why not Union Pacific, or UPS...seems both would be great fits at UW.

Okay... but to be fair, you could draw about a 10 mile radius around FAU and have the entire population of Wyoming...
I am not sure that matters, but the AD has yet to show signs of exploring the opportunities. You rep the whole state, the entire alumni fanbase, etc., which has a ton of interest and eyeballs, not just a people count.

When it comes to naming rights...I think eyeballs is about the only thing that matters.

I'm sure you get some coin for naming rights at the AA or the War ... but it won't be as much as the bigger schools or even schools in major population centers.

You're thinking in the old model.

In the new model, rich people can "buy and guide" an ncaa football franchise. There's plenty of interest at all levels. Even WYO would be a bigger investment draw than things like arena league.

Don't ever underestimate the ego of senseless money.

Haha...I like the term "ego of senseless money". I'll have to use that.

Well...if Burman or the next AD can find the equivalent of a Phil Knight, or a group of them, then all bets are off and we aren't talking about traditional marketing and economics. I would think naming rights is still pretty corporate and not a personal ego play though.
