Fan Board Meeting Notes

Privatization (opener container) starts at 8 a.m. on gameday and goes
through the 3rd quarter. From fan perspective, seems to be plenty of time.
Tailgaters are welcome (and wanted) to stay in lots after a game, just need to act
accordingly.

These points seem to contradict each other. I tow my camper up there for games and afterwards we like to hang out and bbq, play cornhole, and yes drink. Last year we constantly bugged by security about the booze. I get it, it's their job but if we're behaving and not disturbing others can't you just leave us alone? We're not getting loaded and driving around town, we're having some drinks and sleeping in the camper!

This was a long topic of discussion. Athletic dept said that for this coming season drinking would be allowed in parking lot after the game as long as you were not causing any problems. If you have been bugged by security in the past I urge you to email the Fan Board leader Nick Popplewell ([email protected]) and tell him your story so this is 100% cleared up for this fall.

Well that sounds encouraging. I appreciate the feedback!

This is a nice step towards making the game-day environment better for fans. Kudos to the committee and athletic department for the initiative.

Funding looks to be an issue. Hopefully that comes together.

Does the Athletic Department coordinate with Colleges around campus to generate a large alumni list? I've attended a few different Universities and one thing I notice is that their athletic departments and colleges continually reach out to alumni with weekly emails, monthly magazines, etc. even if they aren't part of their Cowboy Joe Club Equivalent.

I do receive things from "my UW College" but nothing from the AD. Maybe it has been tried, cost too much, and was not effective?

UW as a whole isn't as aggressive in alumni relations as other Universities.

+1 I have said this several times. If they would reach out to me they would get more of my money.

I hate to say it (again), but it would take some hard work, long (and longer) hours, and some serious leadership initiative to make something like what you are referring to happen.

In other words, don't expect anything like that happening under the current leadership / administration.
