NORMAL — Calling the opportunity “too good to pass up,” Illinois State football coach Brock Spack has added Wyoming transfer Ryon’e Winters to his roster.
Recruited by the Redbirds and several other Missouri Valley Football Conference programs out of Grandview (Mo.) High School, Winters is a 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback who will have three years of eligibility at ISU.
“He’s a guy we know a lot about. This is not a stab in the dark,” Spack said Tuesday. “He was not in trouble, and he’s a solid student. He was just too far from home. We’re excited to have him aboard.”
Winters played as a true freshman at Wyoming and totaled four tackles.
