TEXAS TECH::Billy Gillespie

Though the search for a new coach at Texas Tech will take some time, it would appear Billy Gillispie is also on the mind of incoming AD Kirby Hocutt. Per Lubbock station KLBK's Brandon Rawe, who spoke to Hocutt, "Kirby said he's very aware of Billy Gillispie and what he's done."

It's obvious that Gillispie wants to coach again at the Division I level and according to ESPN's Dave Telep, Gillispie would be the perfect choice for Texas Tech: "Is there a better candidate for Texas Tech than Billy Clyde Gillispie? WYOMING:::Mike Dunlap

Around this time last year, there was talk that Mike Dunlap, then an associate head coach with Oregon, would be the perfect choice for the coaching vacancy at Colorado. However, the CU athletic administration went with Tad Boyle and Dunlap joined Steve Lavin's staff at St. John's. Could there be a chance, though, that Dunlap only stays in Queens for one season?

Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com reports that Dunlap is considering the Wyoming position -- a job that has fallen to interim coach Fred Langley -- but the Cowboys will have to make a very persuasive argument to sway Dunlap.

Let's for a second contemplate that Wyoming's pitch is very successful and Dunlap decides to make a move to the Mountain West Conference. With the news (still unofficial) that Manhattan coach Barry Rohrssen will not return to the sidelines next season, might Dunlap's move create an open space for Rohrssen at St. John's? Last season, Lavin had tried to woo Rohrssen to be an assistant for the Red Storm and after some careful deliberations, Rohrssen decided to stay at Manhattan. If Dunlap leaves, it might be the perfect opportunity for Rohrssen.

The addition of the former Pitt assistant would give St. John's a huge recruiting edge in the Big East; Rohrssen is one of the best recruiters in college basketball as well as a skilled Xs and Os coach. One aspect, though, to consider is the loss of SJU's tactician; Dunlap may not have been the Johnnies main recruiter but he played a heavy hand in devising their match-up zone and played a large part in enhancing the squad's individual talents.
