Eight MWC teams could be bowl eligible

Question also is: how many of the bowl eligible teams are on a serious downward trend, and how many finished the season strong and squeaked in? If I'm on a bowl selection committee, I'd rather have a team trending upwards because its fans are more likely to be excited rather than disappointed with how the season shaped up.

Here are a couple of sites with bowl projections listing Wyoming (as of 11/18/2018):

ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25312929/college-football-bowl-projections-week-12

NBC Sports: https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/18/2018-college-football-bowl-projections-after-week-12/

Others mention WYO on the outside looking in, even though eligible at 6-6. If the Pokes beat UNM and miss out, look back at winnable games versus Hawaii and USU (KO TD return and INT as back-breakers).

We need to make a statement when we play New Mexico that we deserve to be in a bowl.

I think winning 4 straight to end season would send that message
Esp looking at all 6 losses to bowl teAms. Might have 5 top 25 losses. Right now it's 5 top 29.

AND a potential PAC-12 Championship game participant in Washington State provided they beat the Huskies this weekend.

based on https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/11/18/18100890/bowl-projections-2018-college-football-playoff-predictions which has Wyoming left out:

5 win teams to root against:

SMU vs Tulsa (2-9)
Tulane vs Navy (3-8)
Southern Miss vs. UTEP (1-10)

Miami (OH) became bowl eligible tonight. Teams to root against on Friday:

Akron @ Ohio
Coastal Carolina @ South Alabama

True, however...

A close FCS win at home doesn't help, either. If we struggle to win against a poor New Mexico team, it might hurt. Here's hoping we dominate.

The close win over Wofford has literallyZERO impact. BTW, Wofford is in the FCS playoffs and is a better team than SJSU and potentially a few other MWC teams.

Maybe of the sheep variety???...

Read a Burman quote today, that there is a chance - even with finishing 6&6 we are left out of a bowl game (as we all knew / discussed). I thought that was interesting coming from the AD...kind of a give-up mentality. Then again, maybe he doesn't want an invite - it will increase his work load.

Not sure how that reflects him giving up. It's a widely commented-upon reality.

For once, can't really pin it on him. Bowl games want G5 schools over schools like Wyoming. Our AD could outbid the G5 school, but if the Bowl still chooses them, well...

Call me crazy, but if I was the AD, in this specific situation, I would be lobbying hard for my team to make a bowl game. You would hear nothing but positive spin and passionate rhetoric about how my team deserves a bowl game.

For sure.

Does Burman already have info telling him that its a long shot we get invited anywhere? Maybe he is trying to soften the blow he thinks is coming. I don't really know the process of getting to a bowl though, so that may bs.
