DU @ Wyo

Man, am I glad the Pokes are finally back in action. This is a good regional rivalry that should be played every season. Here is a quick breakdown of DU:

DU was picked to finish 3rd in the 10 team WAC. Don't let their record fool you. They have played a tough schedule and will not be intimidated by the Pokes. They believe this is a game they should win.

Player to Watch: #34 Chris Udofia - Chris is a 6'6 junior do-it-all forward for the Pioneers. He can score and rebound the basketball, but his greatest strength is his ability to erase opposing teams shots. He has that uncanny ability to time his jumps perfectly to get the block and avoid the foul. He will be an interesting match-up for the Pokes. Does Shyatt put Leonard on him to try and muscle him around or go with a quicker Martinez?

The Cowboys better come ready to play tonight. DU will play a very methodical, disciplined game and hope for the Pokes to have a few lapses so they can go on a run. The Pokes have the more talented bunch of players and the home court advantage, but it will still take a solid, consistent effort for them to walk away with the W in this game.

I'm not as nervous for this one like I was against CU and Ill St.....but we've gotta take care business, but I don't forsee any major issues.....barring cold shooting!!!

Wyoming would be a brand new college basketball powerhouse. Football would become an afterthought.

That is something I would be 100% totally okay with. Actually I would favor it. It is a lot more realistic to think Wyo could make some Elite 8s and Final4s under Shyatt than Coach C getting us into some BCS Bowls or making the new playoff system.

Let's set our goals high yes, and try to be a powerhouse in football but let's also play the odds, put our money on the horse that has a realistic chance ya know?

Then in the future we could REALLY bitch about not recruiting the Jaycee Carrols, James Johnsons, etc.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's tap the brakes a little.

This kind of expectation sunk the ship for football. Let's be optimistic, but realistic.

We can start talking Elite 8 AFTER we make the tourney and win some games. Until then, I am ok with hoping for a good seed and run for the for a MWC title.

Don't take it out of context either..... :thumb:

The majority of us are just day dreaming to imagine our favorite school being a power at something outside of wrestling. I highly doubt anyone is taking this with any realism.

Yep....its just talk, no harm in that.....I think most are excited, but cautiously optimistic. After football this year, its hard to run away with any expectations as a given.

Yes sir.

Expectations will continue to rise starting tomorrow though. And then after we beat UCSB.
Think we hit the top 25 if and after we get to 12-0?

Going to say no. It's going to require another signature win now currently SMU is most likely that signature win.

Agreed. Win in Dallas, and there is no way the AP will deny a 13-0 team.

And... at this point... it matters about the teams in front of us...
It's not like the committee is gonna sit there and say well Wyo is good but we don't think they have enough quality victories sooooo let's just have a top 24.

If we keep winning, and teams from 21-28 lose, we are going to be in... quality victory or not...

Very true. At some point, SOS no longer matters if that loss total remains really low. That's how Murray State climbed so high last season.

Roll call! I'll be there with a group of friends. We are bringing a good crowd with us. Time to head over to altitude for some pre game brews

well made the icy trek and was not disappointed, expect for that usher telling me to cut the profanity or I'd be gone in a New York minute...lol. I still have it and got that lifeless student crowd involved and everyone afterwards thanked me for coming out and making it somewhat loud...lol. Luke was truly on fire and true to form, Larry was huge from the line, the one thing I want him to start doing is go it and not using a dribble down low, Leonard looked rusty and almost as if he didn't want to be there, Riley played some quality mins, but looked hesitant. DU was a bunch of thugs, and PLEASE DON'T get me started on that worst officiated college basketball game I've ever been too, GARBAGE!!! This is truly a huge win for us, mentally, physcially as they were big time and this'll go long ways towards conference season confidence as well.
Can't make the UCSB, and I know it was a bad road all over, but I'm issuing a challenge to more Laramie folks out there, 4518 last night, what else do you have to do on a snowy cold night, it's time to start believing in this team, on the cusp of top 25 consideration etc....it's a friday night, we should have at least 8k, MAKE IT HAPPEN LARAMIE!!!!

PS: Utah beat SMU...lol
