DU @ Wyo

Oh my god what a horrible 10 days off! I even went back into the football forum and talked while on this massive delay.
Only 2 days out! Yeah buddy!

DU does not have a good record, but they have played some good teams. They are 0-3 on the road though. And since this team beat us last season, we better be ready to get it back this season!

Pokes should win, with a dominant 2nd half, after the game being close @ half time. Pokes end up pulling away and win by 10-15 like we have done a lot this season.

Leonard and Larry and Luke all hit double digits and take care of the team. With Gilmore adding in a solid 10 or so.
And Adams playing well again.

Soo... what's the word on Grabau at this point? Is Adams our guy? Is Grabau done for? Orrrr??

There is no reason it should be a close first half.
Oklahoma Panhandle State. Need more be said?

We aren't exactly a 1st half team here, point differentials from 7 of our first 10 games at the half:

Oklahoma Panhandle St, +6
Western State, +4
Southern, +1
North Carolina Central, +2
Illinois State, -14
Northern Colorado, -3
CU, -2

How about style of play by both teams and our experience of last year as three reasons why it should be a close first half?

That is exactly why it shouldn't be a close 1st half the team should be learning as the seasons progresses on I highly doubt Shyatt wants it to be close. The team should be improving as the season grows on, I don't think it will be a close first half. I think this game will be the game where we come out solid not slow.

If anything I am looking for this game to the the opposite of ISU.

I hope you are right dal, but my gut feeling is it will take us a while to get back into flow we had before the final break. On top of that, Scott's Princeton type of play is designed to keep games close.

Go undefeated into Dallas.

Or, go undefeated headed into vegas sounds better.
Am I talkin about our first game @unlv, or the mwc tourney? Hmm, who knows :)

Well he'll, if we're going undefeated that far, we might as well go undefeated into Atlanta! :thumb:

Well if we are talkin goin undefeated INTO atlanta let's talk bein undefeated LEAVIN' ATLANTA!

Could you freakin imagine...

LOL One game at a time.....last years time started 14-2.....but finished 21-12. MWC play is where it matters, and just about everyone in the league is capable of beating UW if the Pokes don't play well. Just enjoy the ride....and we'll see where UW is in March.

I went out to dinner last night with a guy who has a son who plays for Santa Barbara. He feels like like Pokes are a top 15 team. Not sure if I believe it, but it sure was nice to hear!

Haha I fully agree but since you said undefeated going into dallas I had to make it going into vegas and then the snowball started going downhill FAST lol.

But seriously... could you imagine pulling off an undefeated season?
Who was the last team to do it?
Kentucky was primed to until Vandy beat them in the SEC championship last season.
I remember Illinois was undefeated all season with D-Will then lost to...I wanna say Duke in the National Championship.

Who did last? Syracuse with Carmelo?

They lost to UNC.....

1976 Indiana Hoosiers. UCLA in 1964, 1967, 1972 and 1973.

So....it hasn't happened in 30+ years...and while we have our heads in the clouds.....IF that happened...screw Gonzaga, Duke, whoever......Wyoming would be a brand new college basketball powerhouse. Football would become an afterthought.

That is something I would be 100% totally okay with. Actually I would favor it. It is a lot more realistic to think Wyo could make some Elite 8s and Final4s under Shyatt than Coach C getting us into some BCS Bowls or making the new playoff system.

Let's set our goals high yes, and try to be a powerhouse in football but let's also play the odds, put our money on the horse that has a realistic chance ya know?

Then in the future we could REALLY bitch about not recruiting the Jaycee Carrols, James Johnsons, etc.

And wouldn't it be great to have the AA sold out almost every game? Even when we are playing Oklahoma Pan Handle State over x-mas break?

Not saying we have to go undefeated and win a national championship but hey if Butler can go to back-to-back final 4s, then we can too

No argument here. Ask Butler, put the money behind a basketball program, and the sky is the limit. Football unfortunately, is an arms race too tough for many.

UW has NEVER averaged more than 25K fans a game in football......that speaks to me that UW will never reach the elite level in football. Basketball? You never know. New facility, great coach and program.....fan base that packs the arena (easy to have good attendance when weather isn't as big a deal).....now all that they need to do is win the conference.....and hope for that special run. Extremely difficult.....but its not out of reach.
